Monday Mind Teasers 5/14/07

I know I’ve missed the last few weeks of Monday Mind Teasers, but you can’t blame me. You guys are beasts, and solve anything I throw at you. I locked myself away for weeks in deep Dtoid depression, too afraid to come out and risk it being another Monday massacre. I’m better now though, a pharmacist gave me happy pills, and I’m seeing a therapist for video game consoling. Except the pharmacist is Nex, and the therapist sessions are actually Faith stripping for me....

Moore: being able to store things locally killed the Xbox

Former Microsoft VP Peter Moore shed some light on the premature departure of the original Xbox. He recently toldThe Guardianthat the sudden move between the Xbox and Xbox 360 wasn’t really all about getting the fabled head start in the console wars. It was really a financial decision, brought on by the cost of the hard drive in the original unit. Not having a hard drive in every Xbox 360 was a hard decision, but we wanted to get price under control....

Motorstorm: 3D Rift gets ESRB’d

What isMotorstorm: 3D Rift? I know it’s a 3D game, but this isn’t an announced title. The ESRB let it slip with a new description today. Players can collide and crash into other players, sometimes causing vehicles to explode into pieces....

New Final Fantasy Gaiden gameplay video wows me

Just a few days back I was grumbling aboutFour Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden, saying that I’m not so sure about going on another quest to rescue a princess. We had a few grainy screens and some concept art to go off of, but nothing that I was particularly thrilled about. That is, until I saw the game in motion over atGemagathis morning. you may hit the jump to see the videos, but be prepared: DEAR GOD THEY ARE CUTE....

New Seaman 2 video: Man-faced fish-birds and cell phone-using cavemen aplenty

I was expecting most things relating to the sequel toSega’s Dreamcast pet simulatorto be pretty weird, but after watching this Japanese gameplay overview, I’m less dazed and confused and more disturbed and utterly confounded. For a start, the whole thing is narrated by a hideous mutation of the original game’s fish-man character, who’s head now appears to be grafted onto a bird of some kind. Yes Sega, of course… Not speaking a word of Japanese that I didn’t inadvertently pick up fromShenmue 2, it’s tricky for me to properly relate exactly what’s going on in this video, but it seems to give a brief demo of the new expansive desert island environment in which the game’s caveman character dwells, as well as a quick look at some of the game’s features....
