Gamers who might have been hoping thatSuper Street Fighter IVmight come to PC in the future may never get their wish. In an interview with 4gamer, series producer Yoshinori Ono stated that high piracy of the PC release ofStreet Fighter IVhas caused Capcom to reconsider bringing the game to the platform at all.

The saddest part is that the PC version is pretty much done already, as the arcade release runs on Taito’s Type X2 arcade board which is based on Direct-X. It would take almost nothing to have it ready for PC release, but Ono says it won’t happen without a powerful copy-protection scheme to prevent illegal downloading of the game. Capcom won’t even release the game on Steam, as Ono claims that would be unfair to those unable to use Valve’s digital service.
