This generation of gaming consoles has welcomed in video/movie entertainment in full force. Unfortunately, Nintendo’s Wii, despite having the largest install base, does not have much in the way of non-gaming entertainment options. That changes with the introduction of PlayOn, a video streaming application.
The service has already worked fine for users of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but today Wii joins the party this week. Services like Netflix, Amazon, YouTube and Hulu are piped through a PC into the console by way of a $40 piece of software.New York Timessays that a beta service launches tomorrow.
