PS3 firmware 3.41was recently launched, and despite containing apotential patchthat makes future updates easier, some users are complaining that they can’t update at all, with the new firmware reportedly causing system crashes.

Some users are being told to check their network settings, even though they are connected just fine and nothing’s changed on their network in the short space of time since the last firmware update. Those that have managed to install the update have received an error message stating that “no applicable data” can be retrieved.

Sonyis claimingthat it’s not the firmware per se, but the individual hard disc drives. Sony suggests updating the HDD first, then installing the new firmware with a thumb drive.

Of course, some users say they have managed to get the firmware running without problems, and are thus claiming that there isn’t an issue at all. Everybody knows that if your own particular console has been running fine, then that meansallthe consoles are perfect.
