Hamza gave us a properintroductiontoTom Clancy’s H.A.W.Xyesterday, via his fleshed out post underneath the trailer, so I’m not going to bore you with details that you already know. However, I am going to follow it up with a couple of purdy pictures of jets, and all of us can marvel at them and pretend that we never saw the trailer and everything from this point on is entirely new.
Since we at Destructoid are firm believers in not letting beautiful assets and press releases go to waste (and we all tent at the mere mention of air combat), without further ado, we invite you to click on the gallery and read that release. Pretty please?

UBISOFT LAUNCHES AN AIR ASSAULT WITH TOM CLANCY’S H.A.W.X(TM)
New Tom Clancy Intellectual Property Poised to Becomethe New Air Combat Benchmark
SAN FRANCISCO – April 3rd, 2008 – Today Ubisoft, one of the world’slargest video game publishers, announces the development of TomClancy’s HAWX (high-altitude warfare), an awe-inspiring game that isprimed to revolutionize the way players think about combat in the sky.Scheduled for release in Fall 2008, Tom Clancy’s HAWX turns consumersinto elite pilots of the future. The game will appear on the Xbox360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, thePLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system and on Windows-based PC.

“Tom Clancy’s HAWX marks the next evolution of warfare set in the TomClancy video game universe,” said Tony Key, senior vice president ofsales and marketing at Ubisoft. “We are thrilled to take to the skiesand provide a new environment along with an extension of a familiarstoryline from Ubisoft’s successful Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter2(R).”
Developed by Ubisoft’s Bucharest studio, Tom Clancy’s HAWX delivers anintense and authentic aerial combat experience by fully leveraging thebenefits of the next-generation platforms. The story begins in theyear 2012. As the era of the nation-state draws quickly to a close, the rules of warfare evolve even more rapidly. More and more nationsbecome increasingly dependent on private military companies (PMCs),elite mercenaries with a lax view of the law. The Reykjavik Accordsfurther legitimize their existence by authorizing their right to servein every aspect of military operations. While the benefits of suchPMCs are apparent, growing concerns surrounding giving them too muchpower begin to mount.

Tom Clancy’s HAWX is the first air combat game set in theworld-renowned Tom Clancy video game universe. Cutting-edgetechnology, devastating firepower and intense dogfights bestow uponthis new title a deserving place in the prestigious Tom Clancyfranchise. Soon, flying at Mach 3 becomes a right, not a privilege.
Key Features of Tom Clancy’s HAWX:
• ENHANCED REALITY SYSTEM (E.R.S.) – E.R.S. is in-game technology thathelps turn novice aviators into elite pilots of the future. TheEnhanced Reality System is the backbone of the HAWX flight experience:radars and incoming missile detection, anti-crash system, damagecontrol system, tactical map and information relay, and weaponstrajectory control. E.R.S. also allows players to issue orders totheir squadron, making this system as iconic to HAWX as the Cross-Comsystem is to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.
• ASSISTANCE MODE – Players can ease into their flight missions andgain a level of comfort with the use of the assistance mode. Onceemployed, players can take full advantage of their technologicalsupport through the E.R.S and gain maximum piloting security. If thesituation calls for the player to unleash the full potential of theaircraft, the assistance mode can be switched off and all safetyfeatures will be deactivated. This comes with increased risks, butallows the player advanced dogfighting maneuvers and stunningthird-person views.

• REVOLUTIONARY MULTIPLAYER – For the first time ever in theair-combat genre, players will be able to experience the entire solocampaign in four-player JUMP IN co-op mode. In PVP mode, players canchallenge up to 15 friends in intense dogfighting sessions and findout who’s the top gun. Winning players are rewarded with experiencepoints and money to unlock more weapons.
• REALISM AND AUTHENTICITY – Players have the opportunity to take thethrottle of over 50 of the world’s most famous aircrafts, as well asbeing able to dogfight over realistic modern landscapes that haveendured years of post-war trauma.
