Everyone is getting pretty excited overthe new trailer forResident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Everyone except for me. Look, when the news wasoriginally announced, I was a happy little boy. I’m a hugeResident Evilfan, but even I have my limits.Umbrella Chroniclesis taking the previous games and mixing them into one little package. So what does that mean? It means that I’ve already played this game 15 times now.
Let me break it down:
Resident Evil 1for PS1,DS,GC, plus theDirectors Cut. Also addResident Evil 0. Now addResident Evil 2for the N64, PS1, andGC. AddResident Evil 3for DC, PS1, andGC. PlusResident Evil: Code Veronicafor the DC andGC. Finally addResident Evil 4for the PS2 andGC(eventually I’ll get theWiiversion). Add all that up and it equals 15 times I’ve played the six main games already.
Yes, I know that this is going to be a co-op game and have new content, but COME ON! Anyway, this post is not aboutRE:UC,I just needed to get that off my chest first. The main reason I’m writing this is to bring back attention toResident Evil 5, a game that hasn’t been getting the hype it deserves. So hit the jump for some speculative facts.
Last week, I had the pleasure of joining JohnMartoneand God Len forSpoiler-San. As we shot the sh*t on all thingsCowboy Bebop, we started digging aroundIMDBfor information on the voice actors. God Len came acrossWendeeLee’s profile and saw that she has been cast in Resident Evil 5. So unlessCapcomdecides to completely change the game from this day forth, here’s a list of the characters that will be making an appearance inRE5:
So veterans Jill, Steve, Ada, Rita and the always lovable Albert are making a reappearance. Two new characters, Yoko Suzuki and Rita will be introduced in the game as well. The news of Jill and Albert being in the game is interesting enough, but how about the news that Osmund Saddler and Steve Burnside are going to be in the game. For one thing, they’re both dead! Osmund was the final baddie fromResident Evil 4and Steve was Claire’s ally from Code Veronica. Now, this isResident Evilafter all, so death isn’t always the end.
There are two possible explanations for their return. Either their DNA was extracted from them at one point after they were infected with the T-Veronica virus and theLasPlagasparasites and cloned. Or the game takes place before the events ofRE4andRE:CV. In a way, that does make sense IF the scenario has Jill and the gang fighting Umbrella once again since the corporation was destroyed inRE 4. Whatever the case may be, I’m still hoping for a T-Virus/LasPlagashybrid virus.
Also of note is thatOzwellSpencer, the main man who created the Umbrella Corporation and has never appeared in any of the games at all, is going to make an appearance inRE 5. There is one more character from the past who might be making a reappearance. Thanks toBlindside Dork, BillyCoen(fromRE 0) may be back.Capcom, for some reason or another, asked the voice actor to take off the informationfrom his page.
One last bit of info to share is that fan siteResident Evil Horrorfound news thatFamitsumay have a story onRE 5and more importantly, there will be some news about the game next week at E3. RE Horror has been wrong aboutRE 5news in the past,so don’t get too hyped up. Don’t worry though, I’ll be houndingCapcomnext week for any info on the game.
