With 3D Realms taking ten billion years to make a game, there are rumors that Gearbox Software has taken over development of theDuke Nukemfranchise, and will have something to announce at PAX Prime.
According to whatKotakuhas heard, Gearbox has picked up theDuke Nukem Foreverproject, a game started in 1997. Take-Two maintains that it still has the rights to the game, and Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford says that he will be able to say something at the next PAX event in September.

This is nothing but speculation until Gearbox deigns to confirm it, but this is still a glimmer of light for those who still hoped to playDuke Nukem Foreverbefore they died. Maybe we will indeed see this game within our lifetime!
