To me, nothing exemplifies the game industry’s contempt for real gamers more thanMario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. For the first game officially billed as aMarioandSonicteam up, one could (andshould) have reasonably expected an epic platformer of fanservice-stuffed proportions. Instead, we got an Olympic Games cash-in promotion. What a creative waste.
A creative waste it was, but as we’ve learned by now, creativity means diddly sh*t in this industry, not when there’s money to be made.Mario & Sonichas done extremely well in the sales department. So well in fact, that a sequel isbeing rumored.

Sega has issued a “no comment” with regards to a Spanish magazine that has quite blatantly “hinted” at a newMario & Sonicbeing revealed in its next issue. Translations point to the new game revolving around the Winter Olympics. So, same as the first, but with a little more snow.
I have been eagerly awaiting the day whenMario&Sonicwould team up in some awesomely nostalgic event of a game. It’s never going to happen though, is it? That would probably be too much of a treat for Sega’s spiky blue bondage slave.
