Shigeru Miyamoto is going to have himself a rather busy Game Developers Conference this year. On top of delivering what many are calling the conference’s only keynote speech worth attending, the legendary developer will be honored at this year’s GDC with a Lifetime Achievement Award, for — well, just about everything that isgoodabout gaming.

As far as I’m concerned, there ain’t an honor you may throw at Miyamoto that he probably doesn’t deserve. No matter what camp of angry fanboys you might roll with, it’s hard not to recognize Miyamoto’s staggering list of contributions and achievements throughout his career; while his invisible historical hand might not be visible ineverygame, you can be damn sure that it’s in a great many of them.

Still, isn’t it a bit early to be honoring Miyamoto’s career as a lifetime of achievement? The man’s only 55, and absolutely batsh*t insane — ifgardening can inspire him to create a series of games,it’s hard to imagine something as simple asageslowing him down.
