For those looking for a little something off-the-beaten-path in their first-person shooter this fall, you  might have to look a bit harder. Activision has revealed that Raven Software’s title,Singularity, has been movedout of 2009 and into 2010.

Why? We’re looking at you,Modern Warfare 2.

“The level of excitement for Infinity Ward’sModern Warfare 2coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven’s upcoming sci-fi first person action title,Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010,” Activision said in a statement. “We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a ‘must-have’ title and clears the way forModern Warfare 2to dominate this holiday season.”

It’s hard to argue with their logic — anything going up against Infinity Ward’s monster this holiday is in for a rocky road. But it’s disappointing to see that the title — which looked to have an original and interesting on the FPS genre — won’t see the light a day for a bit longer.
