If you weren’t aware,Civilization V‘s lead designer Jon Shafer left Firaxis Games not long ago. According to Big Download, the departure happened on good terms, and he is now employed by Stardock.
Shafer is now going to work onElemental: War of Magic, a game that had a rough launch but is said to have been vastly improved since. He’ll be helping out with design again, as well as increasing mod support, and will eventually move on to an unannounced project at Stardock.
Seems like a good fit, and since Shafer mentioned how he wanted more freedom, it sounds like he’s happy with his new position.
