Tecmo has announced thatQuantum Theory, once a PlayStation 3 exclusive, is now also coming to the Xbox 360.
I had a chance to play an early build for the PlayStation 3 at Tokyo Game Show earlier in the year, and found that it was a competent — if not slightly derivative — third-person shooter that has a heavyGears of Warfeel.Quantum Theorydoes, however, have two things that will set it apart from other similar third-person shooters.
One, parts of the game’s environment changes in real-time, altering things like cover and paths for the player. The second is that the game’s main character, Syd, teams up with a mysterious female, Filena. In a mechanic that reminded me of the Prince and Elika from 2008’sPrince of Persia, I was able to use Filena as a weapon in order to flank or take out enemies. Neat.
Expect Quantum Theory to ship for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in spring of 2010.
