As you may already know, it wasn’t just the overall look that was upgraded in the creation of the recently releasedSuper Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remixfor XBLA and PSN. The soundtrack also received a makeover, courtesy of the fan musicians atOverClocked Remix.

How did fans end up working on this game release? It’s a pretty good story, andOriginal Sound Versionhas laid it all out for the curious. The article details how Capcom worked with the Web site and its members to edit and shape this soundtrack. It wasn’t just a process of copying and pasting already-done arrangements.

Even with so much material to choose from though, several gaps remained in the soundtrack-in-progress. This was due to the fact that either none of the existing OCR arrangements fit what Capcom was looking for, or because those particular tracks had never even been arranged before. Several character themes (Akuma, Guile, Chun Li, Blanka, E. Honda, and Zangief to be exact) and various interstitial jingles fell into this category, so new music needed to be commissioned and arranged exclusively for the soundtrack.

The final product is impressive. So much could have gone wrong, but OC Remix and Capcom made a full soundtrack to be proud of. Check out the full articlehere, and download thefull soundtrackfor free on OverClocked Remix.
