Last week was one of the biggest release weeks of the year so far, withPortal 2,Mortal KombatandSOCOM 4all hitting the streets.Portal 2andMortal Kombathave both managed to succeed, capturing the first and second chart sports respectively.
Unfortunately,SOCOM 4has not fared so well, failing to crack the top twenty at all.
This is unusual for a PS3 exclusivein the UK, with such games often making it into the top five. It seems highly probable that thePlayStation Network outagehas had a dire effect on the game’s sales. Online is SOCOM 4’s biggest selling point, so it’s hardly surprising consumers may be waiting before picking it up.
Whether sales do indeed spike when Sony gets its act together remains to be seen, but I have a feeling Zipper just got screwedhardby the recent shenanigans.
