Not a lot happens in the UK for gamers during much of the year, but if there’s one thing I’ll give this country, it’s that it at leasttries. The London Games Festival wasn’t all that special last year, but they did their best and they’re doing their best again this year. As we plough through October, there are quite a few British events going on for UK gamers, so I figured I’d post a selection of the stuff you may attend.

We have Video Games Live, the London Expo, GameCity and even a few world record attempts to pencil into our calenders for this and next month. Whether all of these events will be worth your time remains to be seen, but nevertheless you can hit the jump to see what’s happening over the next few weeks.

The London Games Festival:

Starting on October 24th is the London Games Festival, which will once again feature both official and fringe events. There is plenty going on, and a few of the individual events listed will be flying the flag of the LGF as well. you may hit up theofficial Web sitefor full details.

Video Games Live:

As always, Video Games Live will be seen as the festival’s official kick-off, and will be held at The Royal Festival Hall in the Southbank Centre, London. Always a terrific show, this is highly recommended. You canbook your tickets here.

DS World Record Attempt:

On October 25, Brits are invited to attempt to smash the record for most number of DS players at a single venue. Several hundred players will be competing at The Rocket Complex in North London, and there will also be some “Grl Gmr tournament” which sounds retarded. We can ignore that bit.

London MCM Expo:

On the 25-26 October, TheLondon MCM Expowill once again be making its home at the Excel Centre in London Royal Victoria. It’s never anything exciting, but I always find the Expo a fun little event so I will definitely be popping along. Koei will be there as ever, and this time they’ll haveMonster RacersandDW: Strikeforcefor public consumption. If anything, it’s a nice place to buy videogame swag.

There will also be another world record potentially smashed on the Saturday, as they attempt the world’s largest videogame cosplay gathering at 12:30.

A Destructoid affair, the Dtoid community will be having one of its infamous NARPs (No Apparent Reason Parties) at Bunnyrabbit2’s place on October 31.
