There’s been a long wait for the latest installment of Valve’s “Meet The…”Team Fortress 2videos, but it was worth it. The German medic’s video was one of the highlights of the series and nowValve have posted some behind-the-scenes info on how the trailer was created, including some video outtakes.

One of the most interesting things revealed in the post, is that Valve considered making the “Meet The Medic” video an origin story, consisting of a series of flashbacks whilst the medic addressed the camera. There was also a sequence where the medic makes the discovery that leads to the creation of his medigun. Eventually, a lot of the ideas were nixed. Valve decided to stick to the core of a lot ofTF2players’ experience with the medic: uber-charging a Heavy and wasting a bunch of dudes.

The fact that Valve can create quality videos with such rich characters, from a game that’s a story-free, multiplayer-only game, is amazing. Now the wait is on for the (presumably) last video in the series that will feature the Pyro. Will Valve finally confirm the tubby arsonist’s gender? Considering it took two years for theMeet The Medic videoto be released, that revelation maybe some time off.
