In apostingat the officialWorld of Warcraftforum, Blizzard has stated that the latest expansion to their MMO monstrosity will not be shipping on CD. The main game andBurning Crusadeexpansions had previously been released on the format, with DVD versions available in the Collector’s Editions.

Going forward, it seems that the only options for players who have yet to make the move to a DVD-ROM are to either upgrade their computer or make a purchase of the digitally distributed version from Blizzard’s online store. The latter option may be a grim one for addictedWoWfans, as the last expansion did not arrive in digital format for weeks after release.
