In yesterday’srevealofZennin Shiboudes, the new escape-the-room visual novel from Chunsoft, Dtoider OriginalGman mentioned that he thought the game resembled999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doorsa little too closely. The Vita / 3DS multiplat was tagged as a spiritual successor to999, but I have to agree that there were quite a few direct similarities.
Now that the trailer above has been released, it’s pretty clear that there is nothing “spiritual” aboutZennin Shiboudes— it is most definitely a sequel! There’s a person dressed up as Zero, doors painted with single-digital numerals, and even those infernal watches! Whether this all means that the game is a direct continuation of events from999, albeit with a new cast of “players,” or a completely independent tale set in the same universe that uses the Nonary Game as a template is still up in the air.
One lingering question remains: what the f*ck is up with that freaky-looking rabbit!?
