Nintendo: What’s casual gaming?

I don’t always agree with a lot of what comes out of Nintendo, but today is one of those days where I can safelytell it to preach on. Nintendo of Europe’sLaurent Fischer has said that this “casual gaming” movement ismore of a myththan anything else, and a term he doesn’t approve of. “For me, you are a gamer or non-gamer,” states Fischer.“I think most of you know that you can spend ten or twenty hours on an internet flash game and have not realized....

No More Heroes aims to make Manhunt 2 look like child’s play

In a time where there are so many games with utterly realistic high-definition graphics, it’s nice to see the occasional title that brings forth a different kind of style. One such game isNo More Heroes. Not only is it visually appealing, but it also promises to be one of the most violent Wii games … ever! The director ofNo More Heroes, Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51), recently sat downwith IGNand talked about his pride and joy:...

PAX 10: The best of cosplay super-cade of super-friends

This was my first PAX Prime, but because I’d been to PAX East before, I figured that I knew what to expect. Boy was I wrong. The amount of cosplay at PAX is extraordinary. Though this video is over six minutes long, it doesn’t even come close to representing the vast array of cosplay I saw at the show. I can’t tell you how many times an awesome Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, low-polygon Cloud Strife, or some other amazing example of cosplay genius would walk by, but because I was too slow or our camera was out of space, I’d have to let them go....

Podtoid 109: Dried grapes

I fear one day will come when Podtoid stops becoming about actual gaming news and almost solely becomes a weekly delivery of sex and sports jokes. Then I realize that happened about twenty episodes ago, and I stop worrying. – Be prepared for Robert Patrick’s Double Dragon next week –The Red Staris good – I just realized we legitimately do not mentionHalf-LifeorMetal Gear Solida single time throughout this entire episode...

PSN Europe goes down, EVERYBODY PANIC!

Sony Europe has confirmed that it’s suffering some unscheduled downtime on the PlayStation Network, and is currently working with technicians to get it restored. Of course, the memory of the “PSN Hack” is still fresh in people’s minds, so a fair few gamers are getting worried. There’s no evidence that yet supports another PSN tribulation right now, especially as other regions seem to be okay at the moment. I’d keep the fingers off the panic button for the time being, at least until we know more....

Pure magic: Add ‘junk’ to loved Genesis game boxes

This forum thread from our friends at Giant Bomb is freakin’ hilarious(some images NSFW). Its title is “Add an inconspicuous MS Paint c*ck to a well loved Genesis cover,” and I love forum user BiffMcBlumpkin for making it. It’s exactly as it sounds: Take a Sega Genesis game cover and add some junk, via MS Paint, to a character on the cover. No one escapes. It starts withPhantasy Star IV(an easy one), and continues withShinobi, Taz Mania, and even the belovedStreets of Rage 2....
