New Singularity trailer reminds me that I want it… now

SoSingularityshould have come out last year. Not because it Raven Software had completed the game, or because it would have made financial sense for Activision to release it among a holiday of huge releases. No,Singularityshould have been out last yearbecause I want it, damn it. The game’s crazy time-shifting mechanics has my attention, as does the ability to be able to turn someone into a skeleton with said mechanic. While many people have written the game off as another generic shooter, from what I’ve seen,Singularityis anything but....

Nintendo finally does the smart thing: Improving release dates outside Japan

I’ve made no secret ofmy bitter distastewhen it comes to the ridiculous, insulting and totally unnecessary release dates that we have to put up with from Nintendo in Europe. Finally, however, it seems that the Big N is finally seeing the light and realizing that gamers outside of Japan are increasingly growing frustrated with their shoddy treatment....

Osaka elementary schools to require Nintendo DS for every student

[As originally postedon Japanator] Here’s an article that highlights the gap between the US and Japanese DS market: about ten elementary and middle schools in Osakaare requiringtheir students to have a Nintendo DS. The school board will be distributing the systems starting in January, and the students will use a variety of software to aid their learning. If you’ve ever looked at the Japanese DS library, there is a plethora of study games that help you learn any number of languages, help you improve your kanji (oh how I use those games), or even help you read books....

Overload: More than 100 images of Dark Void concept art

Even though when I think ofDark Void, a few great things come to mind — Airtight Games (Crimson Skies), Capcom, jetpacks, the Bermuda Triangle, and Nikola effing Tesla — had the game shipped this year and not been delayed, there’s a chance many of us would’ve missed out. How do you even go about classifyingDark Void? An action-heavy third-person shooter with flying elements? Whatever it is, it’s looking more and more like something I need to play....
