Silent Hill: Downpour gets its first batch of screenshots

Color me gullible, but I’m quite looking forward toSilent Hill: Downpour. So far, its developers aresaying all the right thingsand it’s sounding very promising. These new screens are pretty gorgeous too, so check them out. These are the first public screens of the game, barring whateverGame Informernabbed for its exclusive. It’s all looking suitably dark and mysterious, and the environmental shots appear particularly creepy. I’ve got my fingers crossed. I haven’t been into the series since the last generation, and I countSilent Hill 2as my favorite game in all creation, so I’m really hoping Konami can win me back this time....

Been wondering what setsSingularityapart from other FPS that have evil Russians and time travel? OK, maybe those things aren’t as ubiquitous as WWII and Nazis, but you have to admit that from a cursory glance at the gameSingularitydoesn’t look all that different. However, like all good games, it is the gameplay that is looking to set it apart. In the trailer above you can check out this gameplay. See, Raven Studio’s have taken the time mechanic and used it in a pretty interesting way....

Smell like a person who doesn’t exist with FFXIII perfume

Far be it from me to judge, but I have never understood the appeal of smelling like a famous person, place or thing. In fact I’ve never really understood the appeal of cologne in general, especially when so few men have any idea how to use it in proper amounts. Of course perfumes, or their less powerful siblings Eau de Toilet, I can understand since women seem to have the ability to not dump an entire bottle of scented liquid on themselves....

Someone talk me out of wanting to play Hello Kitty Online

Hello Kitty Onlinehas to be the girliest, silliest looking MMO in existence, and if I close my eyes tight I can easily imagine scores of eight year old girls getting glued to their computers at an early age and driving their mothers to a life of anti-gaming rallies. Still, there’s some small part of me that wants to play it. I don’t know, maybe it’s that I’m attracted to silly things, or that I’m curious what a Hello Kitty MMO would be like....

Spanish civil war game stirs up a fascist-flavored hornet’s nest

The Spanish civil war is a touchy subject for many Spaniards — hardly surprising, as the war gave rise to fascist dictator Francisco Franco and claimed the lives of around 500,000 people. Perhaps basing a videogame on this period of time, where you can either play as the defeated Republicans, or the victoriousbloody fascists, might cause trouble —in fact, it has. Shadows of War: The Spanish Civil Waris apparently the first game to be based on this time period and is upsetting the locals....

Square Enix launches Mindjack on June 19, 2025

Square Enix has announced that it will be launching intriguing online shooterMindjackon July 22, 2025. If you’ve never heard of the game (understandable), it’s a title that aims to seamlessly blend single-player narrative and competitive multiplayer into one unique beast. The general idea is that players can hack into the brains of NPCs in other people’s single-player games, kind of like the Agents in theMatrix. Lots of people around the Destructoid offices were very excited to hear about a North American release of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. TGS 2007: Trailer for Steambot Chronicles/Bumpy Trot 2 (trot your bumpies, etc.)

Making sure that the “charming but thoroughly weird Japanese RPG” demographic is met, here’s a trailer for what those at the Tokyo Game Show would know asBumpy Trot2, but what we typically would refer to asSteambot Chronicles 2. I preferBumpy Trot. Don’t bother watching the cam-recorded trailer all the way through as it repeats itself towad the end.I’m really not a fan of the almost last-gen era graphics or the unimpressive animation, especially for a PS3 game, butSteambothas its fans so I expect it won’t be a flop and graphics aren’t everything....
