Go away, Tauros As readers will know, I recently confessed my closetPokémonfandom and am celebrating my newfound liberation with a selection ofPokémon-themed articles for those who also like to throw hard metal balls at fluffy wild animals. Although we might not like to admit it, part of what makesPokémonso appealing is that its namesake creatures are so downright adorable. Many of them are very cute, inventive or just plain cool-looking. However, even back in the days ofRedandBlue, thePokémondesigners clearly struggled to create 151 original pocket monsters....

Last year’s listwas alright I guess, but I tried to do better this time around. This year I got a lot more input from the other Dtoid editors, expanded the total film count from ten to twenty, and will be using header images from our readers’ excellent entries intothis contest. This one comes from Dtoid member Clov3r, and I think it’s pretty awesome. So enough with the hub-bub, let the games begin....

Nine Inch Nails musician and artistic freedom fighter Trent Reznor has beensharing his opinionson the game industry, and judging by his comments, he’s going to end up on the hit list of many a PS3 fanboy. Claiming outright that he likes the strategies behind the Xbox 360 and Wii, Reznor has criticized Sony’s handling of the Black Box o’ Blu-ray, especially the announcement of the Sony Wiimote. “I like what I’m seeing from Xbox where they’re providing a place to get indie games and you don’t have to hack your system or fight updates to get those games on it,” he explains....

Child of Edenhas been put into the second quarter of this year by Ubisoft, according to Eurogamer. For the uninitiated, that means we’re looking at a release in April, May, or June for Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s latest — at least, for Europe. One would think that North America would share a similar launch, but Ubisoft’s release schedule didn’t seem to specify. Considering this istheKinect game for some — and also a sweet-looking game that doesn’t actually require Kinect, for others — we’re eager to hear one way or the other....

UK siteComputer and Video Gameshas posted some new (yet unsurprising) information on the quietly announced Prince of Peria Wii title, slated to hit the system next year. The game is well underway (and in a playable form), according to UbiSoft’s Yannis Mallat. Mallat claims the game was “fun and intuitive,” which isn’t a surprising stamp of approval considering he’s the CEO of the company’s Montreal Studio. The Wii remote will apparently be used for jumps and other moves, while the nunchuck will be used to throw out the Prince’s chain....

Here’s the first video in a God-knows-how-many video series from last Saturday’sTatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Starslaunch event. This one focuses on Capcom big-wig Ryota Niitsuma. He’s a very serious man, but I managed to make him laugh a couple of times. I also inspired a few awkward pauses, which at least I think are funny. There’s a lot of good info here, and if Niitsuma-san gets his way, I get the sense that he’s going to make some pretty kick-ass games in the future....

Last we heard of Ignition UK’s unfortunateWarDevil, the gamehad been canceledfollowing the studio’s decimation. Apparently, we all heard wrong, as the game is soon to enter “full production” under its new name,Project Kane. “Following a comprehensive audit of the title, assets and internal team, we have decided that a core team responsible for theProject Kaneprototype will take the game into full production, led by the key vision holders,” announced UTV Ignition chairman Hassan Sadiq....

Level 5 and SCE Japan Studio’s PS3-exclusive JRPGWhite Knight Chronicles: International Editionshipped this morning. It probably won’t be at any of your local retailers until tomorrow afternoon or Thursday. Similarly, the game’s micro-transactions won’t appear on PSN until then either. If you didn’t know,White Knight Chronicleshas an online component with social creation elements — such as the “Georama” — that will be supported by optional DLC. As explained in one of the latest PS blog posts, the “Georama will have parts that you can create and parts that you can choose to purchase using micro-transactions to further enhance your space....

At a German hackers event called24th Annual Chaos Communication Congress, some crafty/smart/nerdy types have just demonstrated what seems to be a Wii hack with full hardware access. Through their voodoo, they were able to find encryption and decryption keys by doing full memory dumps at runtime over a custom serial interface. This allowed them to run their own code. They hope to use this “in” to provide native Wii homebrew access in the future....
