In what may be a first, Capcom has announced today that digital downloadWolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3will be coming to PlayStation Network today, days before it hits Xbox LIVE Arcade on Wednesday, June 11. The top-down pew-pew shooter will cost gamers $9.99, and will be available on PSN this evening. As I stated before, Xbox 360 owners will have to wait until next Wednesday, and the game will cost 800 MS Points....
If you look at the side of the Australian packaging for the 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle you’ll see that another system is listed. It’s a 250GB bundle. This one has a glossy finish instead of the matte on the 4GB. It too comes with the Kinect sensor, and there’s a bonus headset. Oh, and —LAWL— composite AV cables. What game does it come with? Do you really care about that?...

This week’s episode of SCEA’s“The Tester”reminded me what would happen to another reality show, “Fringe,” if it lost its star Michael Cerveris. The writers would be at a loss — nay, in a crisis! Cerveris’ big bald head and creepy child molester stare is the reason the show exists. He’s its lifeblood, much like “Barmy” was to “The Tester” before receiving the boot. What Is This Thing? “The Tester” is about 11 nerds who want to become a game tester for SCEA....
So I just spenta whole featuretalking about the problems of trying to support multiple consoles — why would we still NEVER, EVER want a one-console future? After reading a number of the comments from Dtoiders on my last post, I’m quite impressed how many people seemed to piece it all together, and see that with just one console, there is no competition. Competition becomes even more vital in an industry that is technology driven....

It looks like the PSN is coming back online soon. Good. Man, I’ve got a ton of games I’ve been wanting to get for both PS3 and PSP. Sony, figure this sh*t out and you’ll get some of my money! Just in case you haven’t tried out theLeft 4 Dead 2demo yet, know this: it’s good. After I finished writing a three-page diatribe on how the 24 hour delay for the PC demo incontrovertibly proves that Valve hates its customers and is, in fact, a Nazi corporation whose evil surpasses even that of Bobby Kotick’s House of Baby Eating, I found myself truly enjoying the new weapons and the final “gauntlet” sequence....
Last monthwas crazy for the industry. Game sales were up 41% over last year. But, as summer winds down, so does the videogames industry. We’re in what you might call that pre-holiday season lull. The individual NPD releases from each of thebig threeseem to say“we’re still doing good”and not much else. Nintendo is still on top, with the DS and Wii finishing as number one and two for August. The PSP is doing great, coming in at number three....
