Monte Cristo has announced that registration for the closed beta of its massive city builder/MMO,Cities XL, has opened. In the latest expansion toEVE Online, called “Incarna,” CCP introduced the Nobel Exchange, which allows players to purchase vanity items for their avatars. Players were outraged at the high prices, since the store included a monocle that cost $70 and $25 shirts. Now the developers are talking about introducing more items with an even higher price point. In a recentblog poston the officialEVE Onlinesite, CCP gives a rough overview of their plans for the Nobel Exchange....

Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister has had quite the career. He’s been successful with Motörhead voice of doom. Dude’s so famous and well-known that evenhis mole has a MySpace page. Now, Kilmister can add being in a videogame to his resume. Activision has revealed that he’ll be appearing as a digitized and “playable” character in the upcomingGuitar Hero: Metallica. A re-recording of the Motörhead song “Ace of Spades” will appear in the game as well....

My pick for this week is easilyBionic Commando. I loved the multiplayer but I am a little nervous about the single-player. I’ve been hearing a lot of mixed recations to the game. BioWare writer Drew Karpyshyn has been working on aThe Old Republicnovel — the third one in a Del Rey published series ofTORnovels — and now its title has been reveald:Revan. Revanwill focus onKnights of the Old Republic‘s protagonist and will finally disclose what happens to Revan after the events ofKOTOR. Karpyshyn says that whileKOTORhad a lot of player choice for Revan’s story, the book will follow the canon where Revan is male and ends up choosing the Light Side ending....

For those of you who are unfamiliar, they were a set of Nintendo videogame novelizations that came out during the 80s. As you can probably guess, they’re bad, but enjoyable in a weird way.
