With Clover studios having disbanded, some thought they’d never see a proper follow up to its 2006 PlayStation 2 classic,Ōkami.Ōkamiden, Capcom’s upcoming Nintendo DS title set in theŌkamiuniverse, may just be what gamers had been hoping for. Just don’t go calling it as sequel. “I should clarify for you that I don’t consider it a sequel so much as a spiritual successor,”Ōkamidenproducer Motoshide Eshiro tells me via a translator. Eshiro explains that there’sŌkami,which was on the PlayStation 2 and the Wii, and then there’s the upcomingŌkamiden— he’d like to keep the “brands” separate....

Sony has boasted that, after four years of bleeding money, the PlayStation 3 has become profitable, with the company finally making money on every unit sold. It’s that song. I don’t know if you know, but the main theme song from the originalLocoRocowas so damn infectious I had to download it immediately. Then I found out it was sung by some little kid, and then I felt creepy. Children’s music is usually like that. So I have to say I have a funny relationship withLocoRoco. See, it’s so saccharine and cute that I feel “off” after a just a few hours of play....

Professor Layton is awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to be told I was correct by anyone else more in my entire life. And when you were wrong… oh the shame. Why bring up whateveryone already knows? Well, besides the upcoming sequels coming out in the US eventually there just happens to be aProfessor Laytonfilm in the works, and on this day we get to watch a new trailer for it and get all excited about the good Professor’s puzzle solving skills yet again....

Playstation blogrecently posted a full update on their Ratchet and Clank-related activities at Comic-Con, and I think fans of the series will be very pleased by what they are going to see. The four videos after the jump show off everything from the first footage of the gameplay fromA Crack in Timeto the brand new line of weapons the game will boast (called the Constructo line). There’s going to be Ratchet and Clank toys too!...

Raven Software, the group behindSingularity, is sticking with the shooter genre for its next title — ifa recent job listingis any indication, that is. In a post for a lead FX artist on Gamasutra, “an established console-based, realistic, first-person military shooter” is specifically mentioned. They also go out of their way to call it a “new unannounced title,” so take that for what you will. Lately, there have been a few rumors about what the studio is working on next....

GOG is partnering with UK publisher Funbox Media to bring its classic games to the digital distribution service, starting withRealms of the HauntingandGuilty Gear XX #Reload. Of course the latter is the PC version of#Reload, which is just the PS2 game with an extra movie in the gallery mode. Realms of the Hauntingis a cult classic that mixed first-person shooter and point & click adventure mechanics with FMV cutscenes. If you missed this back in 1997, here’s your chance to catch up....
