What’s up with Dragon Age ‘Awakening’s’ BlackMarsh?

We get the impression thatDragon Age: Origins — Awakening’sAmaranthine is not an attractive place. At the least, it won’t all rolling fields of lush greens and colorful flowers. It has a doom and gloom marsh with a nasty past and a living legend — one that we’ll be able to explore (and kill) when the full expansion hits in a few months. Wait, what’sDragon Age: Origins — Awakeningyou say? We can answer that easily enough....

$948 for a Wii? Who would pay that?

Over the Christmas holiday, some people went to pretty desperate measures to acquire Nintendo’s coveted Wii. One local woman offered to lease my used Nintendo Wii until she could nab one for herself. I wondered “who would do that?” and politely declined. I wonder if this same woman would be crazy/desperate enough to give into the predatory rent-to-own schemes. The Consumeristinforms us of one extreme example of rent-to-own rip-off pricing. This “lease-purchase” fromKelly’soffers a Wii for $79 a month....

Alan Wake will get a third DLC pack this year (update)

This is a weird situation to be in. My copy ofAlan Wakehasn’t arrived yet — top men assure me it’s “in the mail” — and it’s difficult for me to talk about the impending downloadable content for the game since it delves into ending-revealing territory. On top of the already announced add-ons “The Signal” and “The Writer,” MTV Multiplayer has found out from Remedy’s Matias Myllyrinne that a third piece of content is “coming later on this year....

Aliens vs. Predator mostly coming February 2010 … mostly

We’ve known for a while that Rebellion’sAliens vs. Predatorwouldn’t see the light of day until 2010, but we were still unsure ofexactlywhen we could look forward to penetrating fleshy green heads with our snapping secondary jaws. Fortunately, Sega has updated itsAvPpage to reveal that February is now the magic month. Now all we need is a deck of cards. As Destructoid’s chief Xenomorph fan, this is easily among my most anticipated games of 2010, along withAliens: Colonial Marines....

Bayonetta has a tender mouth

That’s exactly the kind of news I wanted to wake up to this morning. Bayonetta, the titular star of Platinum Games’ sexily sexy action title, hasa very tender mouththat has been crafted with love, care and lip-gloss. That’s the word from Masanori Takashima onthe latestBayonettablog, anyway. “The first thing that I set out to do was to get the right feeling for the tenderness of her mouth,” he explains, probably erotically....

Behold the latest LEGO Batman trailer: Interested in saving Gotham again?

Take notice of the latest trailer to showcaseLEGO Batman, and deny your inner child no more. With the booming narration of what sounds like Hollywood’s ownDon LaFontainein the background, and the tagline of “Two heroes… A town full of villains on the loose,” they snap us to attention. Really though, you had us athellothedebut trailer.Personally, I still think the inclusion ofHarley Quinnis enough to warrant a purchase of the game in and of itself, but with the track record of previous LEGO games — combined with our mission to stop Gotham City from falling to pieces — that September release date can’t come soon enough....

BioWare upsetting gay folk again, censoring LGBT talk

With the recent discovery of male-on-male sexual encounters inDragon Age: Origins, talk about the portrayal of homosexuality in games and the general attitudes toward LGBT people within the industry has been enjoyed all over the Internet. However, there is one place you’re able to’t discuss such subjects — the BioWare forums. BioWare is locking and hiding any topic related to homosexuality on its message board, especially those asking why you can have female-on-female sex inMass Effect, but can’t have male-on-male....
