Get six times the XP in Gears of War 2 next week

C-c-can they … can they do that? Apparently! Epic Games is enabling 6x XP forGears of War 2‘s multiplayer during E3 week. This is going down on Monday, June 14th at 9:00 AM EDT until Sunday, the 21st at 9:00 AM EDT, to be exact. If there was ever a time to go after those normally time-consuming Achievements for leveling up, next week will surely be it. I’ll likely be too busy worrying about whatever is going on withGears of War 3and the rest of the neverending supply of intriguing E3 games to take part, but man, I’m seriously tempted....

Hell Yes: MonkeyPaw porting Magical Drop F, Cho Aniki

We knew that MonkeyPaw Games was workingon bringing over many of the Japanese PSOne games that we’ve been dying to get but now we’re getting some title names, and I’m even more excited. Why am I excited? Just from the titles we’ve heard so far, I know that former Hudson CEO Jon Greiner and I are on the same page. I’m one that gets tired of waiting for some of Japan’s best games to get licensed, so I acquire the games I want myself....

Hello Games shows us Joe Danger: The Movie

It is fair to say thatJoe Dangerwas an incredibly fun and addictive game. Our own Matthew Razakreviewedit last year and was just as impressed as I was. At gamescom, we had the chance to play the sequel,Joe Danger: The Movie, and talk to the developers. Actually, the whole team was around their tiny booth, which they set up next to publishing giants like Warner Brothers and Microsoft. We talked about their insane trip from England to Germany and what they’re doing to make a full sequel worth it....

Heroes over Europe has ladies, here’s one to look at

It would be silly to create, or in this case, publish a World War II aerial warfare game without including pictures of damsels on the sides of the planes. Ubisoft is no clown. Aerial gameHeroes over Europeis slated to hitthis increasingly lonely Septemberand with it comes not only hot airplane action, but also steamy bombshell girls. In the header — and in the gallery below — is an image of one of a pin-up in the game, which has been conveniently resized for wallpaper usage (1280 x 800)....

Hirai claims that price was never PS3s problem

Per a little article over atMCV, Kaz Kirai claims that PS3’s greatest problem was never the launch price point, but in fact meeting the supply and demand for the console. Here’s a tidbit from the original interview: “I think the original price-point was the right price-point,” Hirai stated. “This was evidenced by the issues we had at launch when we couldn’t supply enough units to consumers in the Japanese market and the North American market, and it was a huge challenge to try and meet that demand because of all the production issues we had....

Indie Nation: Drug Wars

Indie Nation is about independent games. You could have probably guessed that. To the best of my recollection, I’ve never played a game quite likeDrug Wars. After a remarkably turbulent, accidental release on Steam a couple of months ago, the game formerly known asMerchants of Brooklynhas finally been uploaded under a new title. And it’s awful. And it’sawesome. It has one of the most epic multiplayer modes I’ve ever seen from an indie title....

Infinity Ward guy attacks Activision man, calls him ‘Senior Super Douche’

It’s time for one of those “wow” moments that crop up in this industry so often these days. It would seem that Robert Bowling, community manager at Infinity Ward, is sick to death of Activision’s Noah Heller comparingCall of Duty: World at Warwith his own studio’sModern Warfare. So sick, in fact, that he has demanded Heller stopon his personal blog. Interview: Turbine talks DDO: Eberron Unlimited

The recentannouncement ofDungeons and Dragons: Eberron Unlimitedsurprised me. Studios don’t flip their MMO pay-to-play structures often. But that’s exactly what Turbine is doing. They’re replacing an old model with a hybrid: one that allows players to rock out inDDOfor free and buy optional stuff. When I spoke with three Turbine employees yesterday afternoon —DDOsenior producer Kate Paiz, director of communications, Adam Mersky, andDDOexecutive producer Fernando Paiz — I asked why Turbine put the game on its head....
