In a statement, SCEA VP of marketing Scott Steinberg said “with a growing install base of more than 33 million PS3 systems worldwide, we’re seeing continued momentum on the PS3 platform.” He continues, stating that SCEA is “committed” to delivering “huge value” to consumers.

Bad news from the Electronic Arts camp: Scott Blackwood, the exececutive producer on Skate, brings word that the game’s demo (set to be on Xbox Live Marketplace now) has been delayed. In a post over at theEA Forums, Blackwood breaks the bad news to a flood of angry gamers, stating server complications as the culprit. “As you know,” he writes, “we are trying something completely new for an Xbox Live Marketplace demo by allowing people to play the game and upload footage to ourSkateWeb site....

The gadget fiend in me wants one of these shiny, colorful stands for my PSP, so I can prop it on a table and watch TV. Then I remember that I can go in the living room and watch anything I want on my 60 inch flat screen television, and they seem somehow less appealing than before. I hate how Japan has a knack for making useless things seem somehow essential....

If you thought the “Final Prototype” inSoldner-X 2: Final Prototypemeant it was really the “final prototype,” you were wrong. Why? Because there’s a “last chapter,” of course. The shoot ’em up title that hit PlayStation 3 earlier this year is getting an expansion pack called “The Last Chapter” later this year. The expansion adds three new stages with an all new story, a new soundtrack, as well as new trophies. ThoughtFinal Prototypewas too easy?...

[Update: Sony has clarified that “Quests” will be availabletomorrowfor all PlayStation Rewards beta participants. Sorry for the confusion!] Sony has added an all new feature to its somewhat nebulous “PlayStation Rewards” program — “quests.” Startingtodaytomorrow, nine “quests” were added to the PlayStation Rewards program, which his now in beta testing. Quests currently include things like playing certain PlayStation Move games, or visiting locations in PlayStation Home. Quests are even given cute games — the aforementioned quests are called “Move It” and “No Place Like Home” respectively....

So, I’ve finally crossed 100 posts on Destructoid (this being #101), and am a little high, considering I’ve only been here about a month. Within this short period of time, I have managed to piss Summa off on multiple occassions, been paired up with various people regardless of their gender, been accused of lovingNaruto, and have spent a considerable amount of time with our (currently) drunk Community Manager, Ron “I heart little girls” Workman....

Consider this post part of that demand, Sony. The way I see it, everything will eventually be remade. I get what SCEE president Andrew House is saying about repurposing everything being a negative trend, but if you’re going to do it eventually why not announce it now? “Clearly there’s a consumer demand for [HD updates], but what we’ve done is to say, ‘we’ll do this where it’s appropriate, where there is a sense of a franchise with multiple titles that are associated with it, and where we’ve heard from consumers that there’s significant demand’,” House toldCVG....

There was some concernthat the March 11 Japan earthquake and following tsunami damage could have delayed the launch of Sony’s upcoming portable game system, codenamed NGP. Bloomberg reported that there was some disruption in production after the disasters that struck Japan’s eastern coast, but now Sony is working against that, telling us not to worry about any kind of delays. Seriously, they say, forget what president Jack Tretton said earlier....

We’ve only been treated to CG footage so far, but now we finally get a quick glimpse of Yoda and Vader battling it out. It’s very short, but it’s probably enough to get all of youStar WarsandSoul Caliburfanatics excited in the pants area. Yeah, that’s pretty much it. We get a few seconds of theStar Warslegends fighting it out spliced in between CG footagewe’ve seen before.We do have some more good news though!...

When the Wii launched, it had a library of games that one could call “mediocre” at best. The 3DS hasn’t exactly had a great start either. With the Wii U, Square Enix believes that astrong offering of softwarewill be crucial in order for the console to succeed. “For every console it’s the same thing: one of the most important things is going to be the launch line-up,” said Square’s Julien Merceron....

If a report is to be believed, we may be playingStar Wars: The Old Republicnext year. French fan Web siteStar Wars-Universeis reporting that the ambitious MMO will drop in October 2010. In the piece, the release information is said to come from a Lucas Arts source person.Thatpart might not be true. Speaking withDestructoid, LucasArts senior PR manager Adam Kahn confirmed that a release date has yet to be announced. He also mentioned no one tied to the project announced a release either....

The rumors are true! Telltale will be working on a series of videogames based on the AMC television series ofThe Walking Dead. SVP of marketing at Telltale, Steve Allison, toldAll Things Digitalthat they want to see “one million digital downloads” for this new project and feels that “The Walking Deadcould become a $20 million to 30 million franchise if all goes well.” Additionally, it’s been announced that Telltale is working on games based on the comic book series,Fables....
