Ok, I know “Free Bird” isn’t a particularly new song to the world of music games;Guitar Hero 2came out almost 5 years ago. I also know that a lot of people are tired of music games. That said,Rocksmithactually looks pretty good, albeit a bit daunting. If you’re planning on getting the title in mid-October you may want to consider preordering from Gamestop or Best Buy to get two free tracks: Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” and Radiohead’s “Bodysnatchers....

There is something to say about the level of dedication that this probably required. Either this guy is a mad genius, or he enjoys punishing himself by trying to rekindle his lost youth. Either way, I think this video is absolutely brilliant. I cannot even recount how many thousands of times I must have karate chopped the guard stoically guarding the toilet by the grate early in the game. It’s bad enough that Valve’sThe Orange Boxis suffering from a joke of a delay on the PlayStation 3, but if1Up is to be believed, the wait isn’t even going to be worth it. Once again, the prospect of severe framerate issues rears its ugly head, which is said render the game “unplayable” at times. Just what is the EA port team playing at? After spending a significant amount of time with a near final version of the PS3 game, it’s apparent that this version suffers from a number of technical flaws, which at best merely hinder game play and at worst make the experience downright unplayable....

Mortal Kombat has always been a series that you either love or you hate.Gameplaycriticisms aside, it was a defining game in the industry, perhaps the sole reason PlanetDouchetariasent down Jack Thompson in his douche pod to wreak havok upon the Earthlings. It’s an extremely profitable franchise and there have been countless iterations and games sales to prove its worth. While this version of the game doesn’t differ much from the PS2/Xboxversions that were released last year, it does (of course) take full advantage of theWii’smotion controls....

I’m not entirely sure what Playdead’sLimbois all about just yet, but I know one thing — I like it. Digging through press releases, I’ve learned thatLimbo“puts players in the role of a young boy traveling through a hostile world in an attempt to discover the fate of his sister.” Good information to know, but not something the game lets on… at least not that I’ve noticed after having played through a little less than half of the game, which is set to hit Xbox LIVE Arcade on July 21....

I’m not sure how many times we’ve mentioned the collector’s edition ofAssassin’s Creedon Destructoid, but who cares … isn’t it awesome? These new images (obviously from the European release) make crystal clear why theAssassin’s Creed Collector’s Editionis going to be the one to pick up. A special Penny Arcade comic book, a mini-strategy guide, a bonus disc, andanAltair figure? Sounds good to me. Assassin’s Creed will ship (along with the flood of blockbuster titles) this November....

Frankly, the word “football” — and we’re talking the rough and tumble American-style here, helmets and all — puts me to sleep. I understand the appeal, but wasn’t raised playing or spectating, so it’s never been able to hold my attention. As a kid, I turned to videogames instead. So maybe you’d think the combination of “football” and “videogames” might arouse my interest. Not the case — I find the wildly popular digital versions of the game to be just as unappealing....
