Interview with Space Invaders Extreme’s lead artist

Beingkind of a fan of all things retro, suddenly finding I had the opportunity to speak with the people behind the upcoming 360 version ofSpace Invaders Extremewas exciting to say the least. Taking a game praised by so many gamers to be virtually perfect and improving it before putting it on a new console is no simple task, butBackbone Entertainmentseemed like an ideal studio to take on the job, considering their history with retro-love titles such as Super Street Fighter Turbo HD Remix,1942: Joint Strike, andGauntletDS on the way....

Is Mega Man Legends 3 going to get canceled?

That’s the question a lot fans are asking. If you look at the history of the game’s development thus far, it’s easy to see why. First the game was announced byMega Manseries co-creator Keiji Inafune, and that this was a project that he’s been trying to get made for a while. Shortly after that, he left Capcom (which probably had something to with the cancellation of Capcom’s other currentMega Manproject,Mega Man Universe), putting the future of theMega Manseries on much shakier ground....

Kind of a rumor, but not really: Sam and Max coming to the Wii

Since late 2006, PC fans have been enjoying the triumphant return of world-famous anthropomorphic detective duo, Sam and Max. Its point-and-click style has been a hit with gamers since the 1993 release ofSam & Max Hit the Road, but the team has never made its way to consoles. With the Wii’s mouse-like pointer controls, fans have thought it would be the perfect match, and rumors of a pairing have long haunted the hallowed halls of the Internet....

Kinect used for digital puppet show

I’d be willing to bet that the shadow puppet has accompanied many great technological advancements in our world. I know that my first instinct upon grabbing a light source of any kind is to make some sort of animal on the wall with my hand and I’m sure the caveman did the exact same thing upon discovering fire. Legend has it that Thomas Edison would entertain visitors to his parlor with an uncanny shadow of William Howard Taft1....

Linkin Park headlining Medal of Honor soundtrack, video

Putting together what seems to me as a derivative, uninspired, cookie-cutter military shooter with Linkin Park sounds like a match made in heaven. Only makes sense that the band will be headlining the soundtrack forMedal of Honor. To be fair, I haven’t listened to anything the band produced save whatever tripe got pushed through to commercial radio. I mean, it all could have been crap but I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt ever so briefly....

Live Show: Backlog plays still more Spy Fiction

Despite chest congestion that I haven’t quite managed to shake, we had a great time on Backlog last night.Spy Fictionhas taken a distinctlyMetal GearSolidturn, recently hitting us with a flooded dungeon area and a forced combat survival scenario. And now I’m fighting someone who looks an awful lot like Revolver Ocelot. Strange, yet familiar. Some people in the chat were saying that I was acting a little strange. One person even went so far as to call my antics “entertaining....

M.A.G. playable with Move and DualShock at the same time

So we knew thatM.A.G.would be getting move support, and an easy to develop assumption from that fact is that people playing with Move would be at an advantage over those playing with a DualShock. The precision (or lack thereof depending on how it all pans out) of Move would give players using it an unfair advantage (or an unfair disadvantage) over those who were not. It perplexed us a bit, and when we’re perplexed we ask questions....

Maybe Marvel vs Capcom 3 on the Wii?

Hell, why not. Well, it’s not up to me. But I bet Capcom’s Ryota Niitsuma, the producer ofMarvel vs Capcom 3, has a say. And he says it’s possible. In an interview with Joystiq, Niitsuma says that they haven’t counted the Wii out. It was just that the Xbox 360 and PS3 were a priority. ” There’s no mindset, personally, within Capcom where we want to go out of our way to avoid Wii or do it only on Wii this time....

Mega64: Motion controls SUCK

Remember when videogames were about sitting on your ass, relaxing and having a good time? Yeah, that’s all in the past. Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft all want you to get off your ass to play future videogames. And you know what I think about all that?
