The Memory Card .13: The submerged letter

StarTropics This series focuses on the most memorable videogame moments of all time, but who says some of these self-proclaimed amazing moments aren’t unforgettable for all thewrongreasons? Just because something is “memorable” doesn’t necessarily mean it is any good. For as many beautifully moving sequences I have witnessed over the years that have brought me to the verge of tears, there have been an equal amount that have almost made me cry as well, although more from the pain of yanking all the hair out of my head....

The Memory Card .76: Brotherly love

“The Memory Card” is a seasonal feature that dissects and honors some of the most artistic, innovative, and memorable videogame moments of all time. We all have experienced our fair share of sad moments in videogames. Some make us wipe a single tear from our cheek — others result in nothing more than a quick sniffle of the nose. There are even some that don’t affect us in the least! But there are some — and you all know which ones I am talking about — that just take us over the edge to an almost embarrassing level of emotional outpouring....

The nine levels of ‘Cosplay Hell’ will burn your eyes

I actually have a lot of respect for cosplayers. The dedication it takes to fashion an outfit based on your favorite videogame, comic book, orAmerican Idolcontestant is astounding. Truly, we’ve seen some amazing displays of skill and attention to detail. But sometimes, the complete lack of shame is well … a bit unnerving, to say the least. Gameist’s recent feature, “The 9 Levels of Cosplay Hell,” breaks down the reasons why I try not to leave the house....

The Podcastle episode 40: The Final

This is it, folks. The last episode of The Podcastle. We’ve been going for two years, with no major breaks in between. Every fortnight, we’ve provided you with European commentary, British social debate, and Wardrox’s ludicrous opinions. Now that can all f*ck right off. In our final ever Podcastle, we answer your listener questions. Not all of them, since most of them were rubbish. At the end of the show, we explain a little about what the future holds for Jim Sterling, Atheistium and that other one....
