After a week long disappearence from Live, I come back to new swag on the marketplace forGears of War, including a map pack, a new theme, and even a new patch. While the theme and the new maps are pretty sweet, the patch is somewhat of a burn. Improvements have been made such as shortening the chainsaw and sticky grenade distance, making them “less cheap” as some players I know would say, and removing the popular glitches, such as the Sprint and Run....

Someone flipped the “theme” switch early at Xbox LIVE Marketplace HQ. At some point — we’re guessing recently — a “Pinnacle Station” theme cropped up under the media section for the game. This is one of those franchises that doesn’t seem like an obvious fit for that phenomena, but when you’re dealing with ghost trains and Pac-Bombs, I guess it’s a whole separate level ofPac-Manwe haven’t seen much of before. Our yellow friend has gobbled up some E, and he’s loving it....
Industry analyst Michael “Spider Pants” Pachter has gone out on a limb to suggest that the 3DS will win the next iteration of the handheld console war, destined as it is to outsell Sony’s yet-to-be-announced PlayStation Portable successor. “I think that the 3DS will outsell the PSP2, because the 3DS is new and different, while the PSP2 is likely going to be a souped up version of the old PSP,” says the greasy lover....
EA DICE proved that the Xbox LIVE and PSN audience is ready to purchase feature-rich downloadable games that are similar to retail experiences. Atomic Games is looking to expand on that idea, to “disrupt” the market by offering a downloadable that offers a full retail-like experience at a smaller price. In Boston, I went hands-on with Atomic Games’Breach. It’s a downloadable built on the tech the studio developed for the controversial and still unreleased (and still coming)Six Days in Fallujah....
I’ll try my best here, but honestly, words cannot accurately describe the weirdness ofMonsteca Corral: Monsters vs. Robots. For that, you’ll need towatch this video. Notice how there is a caterpillar meter, and upon filling it up, a giantcaterpillarAstromaggot starts flying around the world. At least, that’s what I think was going on. The game itself looks rough around the edges — especially in comparison to the awesome, straight-out-of-the-’90s art (attached below) — but I can see myself being too distracted by what’s happening on the screen to care about visual fidelity....
