Indie Nation #3: Platform

Platformis a damned remarkable game. Not only does it combine pimpass platforming puzzles with aLost Vikings-esque character separation mechanic, but it’s also the only episodic series I can think of which manages to be just as prolific as most webcomics. Since May 2nd, 2007,Platform‘s creatorreleased a new level every Sunday (more or less) until this most recent one, wherein he finally completed the game. Truth be told, I wish I could have spotlightedPlatformwhen it was still incomplete so you could look forward to it on a weekly basis; still, though, it’s nice that the game can now be played from beginning to end in one sitting....

Interview: Nate Kenyon on Starcraft: Ghost: Spectres

Recently, I was offered the opportunity to go in undercover – like a ghost, if you will – and interview author Nate Kenyon to ferret out information regarding the recently releasedStarcraftnovel,Starcraft: Ghost: Spectres. It wasn’t easy. A Zerg rush nearly crippled my initial efforts, and Protoss Templars seemed to watch and haunt my every move as I made first contact with Blizzard. Truly, I was in dangerous territory with this interview....

Jack Thompson whines about possible GTAIV spoof

It seems that Jack Thompson, my favorite person in the whole wide world, is an avidGame Informerreader. After recently reading an article printed in the magazine,Thompson is worriedthat he’s being parodied by Rockstar’sGrand Theft Auto IV… and he’s not happy about it. Comfortable to sling childish insults at his opponents, Thompson just can’t handle being on the other side of the mockery, which is ironic considering what a joke he is....

For those who picked up last year’sKing’s Bounty: Armored Princessfound a great strategy game with a fairly strong legacy, if not the most mainstream appeal. Klonoa: Door to Phantomile coming to PS3, PSP

The ESRB has re-ratedKlonoa: Door to Phantomileas a Sony-published title for PS3 and PSP, essentially revealing that it is heading to the PlayStation Network as a PSOne Classic title. This is the point at which you squee like a happy little girl. Klonoa is an adorable platformer that has earned itself a cult following and got itself re-released on the Wii a while ago. It’s been conspicuously absent from the PSOne Classics range, but it would appear that’s soon to be rectified....

Koopas invade Minnesota, fortunately on the decline

It must be really boring to live in Duluth, Minnesota. For whatever reason the denizens of Duluth bide their time by counting birds. Among the indigenous birds like the Turkey Vulture, Bald Eagle, and the great Rough-legged Hawk stalks mankind’s and Mario’s greatest enemy – the Koopa Troopa (orKoopius Troopio). According tothis chart, over 90 of these dangerous turtle-birds were spotted last week in Duluth. If these two numbers are any indication, it appears as though the great Koopa plague of Duluth, Minnesota is nearing an end....

LAWL: Antique Roadshow The Game?

Namco Networks America Inc created an internet domain for…wait for it…AntiqueRoadshowTheGame.com. I’m so excited! I can only imagine how exciting a game based on the most exciting, action-packed television show ever would turn out to be like. We have no information on what this game would be, but I’m suggesting that Namco Networks go multiplatform with this bitch. The sky’s the limit! I mean, whoisn’tgoing to buy Antique Roadshow The Game?...

Mario Kart 7: Logo, art, screens and excite

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for a new Mario Kart. I don’t necessarily need 3D, but I’m glad this one one is portable, as I got a lot of mileage out of Mario Kart DS back in the day. In this new batch you’ll see the finalMario Kart 7logo. Fancy? In the art and screens you’ll see the game’s new hang gliding attachment, which is supposedly good for ramping and catching air....

Mass Effect 3 Deluxe Edition is ‘only on Origin’

In what many be able to call a predictable move, Electronic Arts has announced its proprietary digital service Origin as the only place to download the enhanced version ofMass Effect 3. As boasted by the service itself, it will be the “Exclusive source for the PC Digital Deluxe Download .” So far it seems that only the Deluxe Edition will be exclusive, as perhaps not even EA is stupid enough to restrict the game entirely to its silly little Internet Shoppe....

Medal of Honor details spill out, going to be real real

This week’s GameTrailers TV has a whopping amount of news for those looking forward to the single-player campaign ofMedal of Honor. Plenty of never before seen gameplay is above and it looks very solid. Executive producer Greg Goodrich also lets tons of juicy plot details drop, including the fact that the story will be divided up into three parts and will focus on multiple parts of the U.S. military. If I was going for some sensationalism I might note, like some other gaming sites have, that Goodrich mentions that the game will be told “from two different sides” and then claim that this means that we may be playing as Al-Qaeda in the single-playeras well as the multiplayer....
