Destructoid at the Puzzle Quest: Galactrix Launch Event!

Last night,D3Publisherinvited everyone in the Los Angeles area to come down toMeltdown Comicsto celebrate the launch ofPuzzle Quest: Galactrix. Since everyone lovesPuzzle Quest, some of the DtoidLA regulars and I headed on down to check out the event. Although, to be honest, I’m pretty sure a couple people just came for the nerdcore girls, andGalactrixjust happened to be a nice added bonus. Hit the jump! One of the big draws for the party was that they would be giving away an early copy of the game to the first 50 people in line who brought their DSes with them....

Destructoid Network: This week’s finest 07/15/07

E3 and EIEIO has come and gone and half the team is still in a zombified state, including me. I just want to take the time and apolozie to anyone who tries to follow my features. I thought I could handle it but I guess I couldn’t. Next time, I know better. By the way, did you see G4 mention my YTMND Thursday feature? When Ron told me that in person the other day, I nearly kissed him in the mouth …...

Destructoid review: Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers

Like itsXbox 360 prequel,Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayersis a budget-priced title that focuses on the lives of four women, all in various states of undress, who spend all their time inserting swords into zombies, then quickly removing the swords, which usually leads to the zombies in question being cut into pieces. As fun as that sounds, I still didn’t expect much from this game. With two more expensive, higher-profile zombie games also coming to the Wii this month,it seemed likely thatOnechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayerswould end up being the runt of the Wii’s undead litter....

E3 08: Reggie can’t understand the disappointment

Did you feel numb watching Shigeru Miyamoto’s saxophone pantomime during Nintendo’s E3 conference? Did hearingthat womanscream about puppies and broken wrists while laughing at her own jokes leave you out in the cold? If so,you’re wrongbecause meat-flavored NoA boss Reggie Fils Aimes thinks that so-called “core” gamers had plenty to satisfy them during yesterday’s show. “How could you feel left out? TheAnimal Crossingthat we’ve been hearing about that people wanted,” explained the steak-and-chips boss, when it was suggested that Nintendo didn’t have enough on show to thrill the traditional Nintendo fan....

E3 09: Here’s the obligatory montage of upcoming XBLA games

Unless you are a newcomer to the ways of E3 press conferences, you know all about the use of montages. Whether there are too many games to mention, or you just have a bunch of trash the people watching your conference won’t care about, a montage will have your back, guaranteed. Not to be confused with the second annual “Summer of Arcade” line-up, the following video (located after the break) showcases a bunch of Xbox LIVE Arcade games that are currently in the works and will hopefully be out sooner than later....

E3 10: TIGER! Dead Rising 2 has one

Dead Rising 2is pretty amazing. All the excess from the first game is back with a bloody vengeance. The game has even more zombies on-screen (reportedly over one thousand) and even more bizarre ways to dispatch them. Sadly, none of the more admirable qualities of the bastard Wii-portDead Rising: Chop Till You Dropseemed to have made it into the sequel. While the Wii build of the game lacks in zombie count, it makes up for it by throwing tons of different types of zombies at you, including zombie animals....

EA announces RISK: Factions (XBLA)

EA is bringingRISKto Xbox LIVE Arcade in 2010. This afternoon, Electronic Arts announcedRISK: Factions, a digital take on the board game set to be published by EA’s Play Label. Stainless Games (Magic: The Gathering) is at the helm of the project with support from Power House Animation. The release information doesn’t make it seem like Stainless is trying to reinvent Australia — the official release does mention “new gameplay twists” as well as humor — but it seems like this is destined to be a faithful port of the board game with twists in mind....

F.E.A.R 3 is bringing the art of videogame manuals BACK!

We have an officialF.E.A.R 3review coming soon (I had to buy it at launch because reviewers don’t get all their games for free, folks!) but before that gets finished, I just had to share with you the dazzling beauty that is the game’s manual. Manuals are a lost art these days. They used to be beautiful — almost collectible — but nobody cares about them anymore. Luckily, Warner Brothers and Day 1 Studios pushed the boat out and brought the romance of the videogame manual back into play....

Final Fantasy Agito XIII has ‘unique’ multiplayer

We’ve not heard a thin buggered winkle fromFinal Fantasy Agito XIIIin a while, but Square Enix has confirmed that the game still exists. It will also have a “unique” multiplayer element, according to director Hajime Tabata. “Agito XIIIisn’t going to be the typical kind of multiplayer game where people gather around and play together,” he explains toFamitsu. “It’ll have something unique and exclusive to itself.” Tabata also states that development is going smoothly: “Occasionally I talk a little bit about how it’s going onThe 3rd Birthday’s Twitter account, but development’s going along smoothly, and it’s going to be a really intense game, the sort where you’re using the Fire spell like a gun in a shooter....

Final Fantasy IV DS English trailer: Hear Cecil speak for the first time

Final Fantasy IV(or,II, as I will always remember it on the SNES) is one of my favorite games of all time. I was excited about the DS remake, but a little nervous as I didn’t want the fancy new polygonal graphics to take away from the original’s charm. After watching the above English language trailer, however, I am now losing my mind with excitement. I have to play this game right now....
