Batman gets hardcore flapping in new Arkham City trailer

Here’s a new trailer forBatman: Arkham City. The promotion has been so focused on the huge rogue’s gallery that it’s easy to forget Batman is actually in it, so this video is centered squarely on Bruce and his criminal-punching skills. I love the way the game seems to flow, with Batman flapping around Gotham, dropping down to hit some idiots, and then flapping away again. It seems to work incredibly smoothly....

Battlefield 1943’s price staying the same for PC

With EA DICE currently working on a slew ofBattlefieldgames, including the ever-so-awesome-lookingBad Company 2, I can see why the studio wanted to hold off on pushing outBattlefield 1943for PC. Let’s face it, the game’s console brethren launched with their fair share of problems, so it’s probably wise for the improved (32-person multiplayer, etc.) PC port to take its time and be ready when it’s, well, ready. If that means a 2010 release, then so be it....

Beautiful Katamari coming to PS3 after all (Updated: No it’s not!)

For a good while it appeared thatBeautiful Katamariwould not be heading to the PlayStation 3 after developer Namco Bandai complained about difficulties with Sony’s futuristic devil hardware of doom from the planet HardToDevelopFor. It would seem, however, that Namco has mysteriously worked out how to actually do it, since a trip toNamco Bandai’s sitewill reveal that the game is confirmed for both Nintendo’s Wii and the PlayStation 3 in addition to the already announced Xbox 360 release....

Best Buy charging $30 for PS3 firmware updates

If exploitation of ignorance were a crime, then Best Buy and its “Geek Squad” thralls would be hanged by the neck until dead. The latest way in which Best Buy is profiting from the stupid is by charging $30 for Sony’s free firmware updates and hiding it as a service. At least one Best Buy in Staten Island, New York, is selling PS3 Slims for $329.98, explaining away the extra thirty bucks as its fee for installing the latest PS3 firmware....

BlazBlue Continumm Shift 2 PSP/3DS trailer hypes hard

ThenewBlazBlueis coming to the PSP and the 3DS in the US at the end of May. The game is already out in Japan, where it sold fairly well on the PSP, but more-or-less bombed on the 3DS. My guess is that’s because as of right now, the PSP version of the game has Ad-hoc online play when streamed through the PS3, but no online play to speak of on the 3DS....

Borderlands boasts over 650,000 weapons: Gotta catch ’em all!

I first heard about Gearbox’sBorderlandswell over a year ago when I picked up an American magazine during a trip to The States. Its promise of hugely customizable guns and characters was very promising, but that promise has taken aturn for the crazy. According to Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford, Borderlands contains more guns than the total amount of firearms contained within every Xbox 360 and PS3 game added together. Of course, this is procedurally generated content, but this game’s boast of 650,000 guns is still worth bragging:...

Bungie’s new IP won’t be at E3, no reveal this year

In an interview with Bungie Design Director Joseph Staten I was repeatedly told thatyesterday’s announcementabout the developers Activision partnership wasnotabout the announcement of a specific game. Instead, it was an announcement about a ten-year deal encompassing “a new universe of stories, a new universe of games.” While Staten wouldn’t tell me when they planned to reveal the brand new IP, he did make one thing clear: we won’t see it at E3 this year....

Capcom needs your help designing Mega Man Legends 3

People have been asking Capcom for a newMega Man Legendsgame for years. Centuries, even! Some folks asked forMega Man Legends 3beforeMega Man Legends 2was even out! Alright, I’m exaggerating, but there’s no doubt that the game’s highly anticipated, which makes it unsurprising that Capcom’s pretty concerned about getting it right this time. Now you, the fan whose ancestors once begged Capcom for aMega Man Legendssequel, can help. Capcom are running a vote, both here and in Japan, right now, to pick the draft character designs for a new female character from the game....

Dante’s Inferno not coming to Middle East (legally)

Surprise surprise!Dante’s Inferno, a game about a mental Christian who carves a cross into his chest and visits a Hell full of big-breasted demons, is not going to be released in the Middle East. Apparently they might have some sort ofproblemwith that, so Electronic Arts has opted not to bother trying. Essentially, the game would have been banned anyway, so EA’s just saving itself the paperwork. Unfortunately, due to the whole religious insecurity thing going on over there, a lot of games get banned for even hinting at something God-related....
