Microsoft has begun to roll out the dashboard update for Xbox Live, bringing many new features with it (including the all-important Kinect support). Activision is formally announcing their collaboration with Sega Toys, called Wappy Dog. We’ve heard a bit about it before, but now we have the full details on this terribly named robo mutt. Wappy is a virtual pet that is controlled with a Nintendo DS. You can raise the pet in either the virtual or real world, teach it tricks, dress it up, talk to it, and even kick it. M2 Research senior analyst Billy Pidgeon, aside from having an awesome name, has an opinion on the current state of waggle controllers and “hardcore” gamers. According to him (and possibly Captain Obvious), traditional gamers find the PlayStation Move a far more attractive concept than Microsoft’s Kinect.
