The latest gang of pussies to bitch about videogames is the Eagle Forum, which iswhining to the Supreme Courtabout a “predatory” game industry that is poisoining America’s children. Fun stuff! Seemingly angered by the ruling that California’s violent videogame law was struck down as unconsistutional, the Eagle Forum has demanded thatsomethingbe done to bring games to justice....

Yet another downloadable title ditches the WiiWare platform for the (apparently) cozier confines of the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network. This time it’s High Voltages crazy-looking top-down shooter,Animales de la Muerte. Originally announced as a WiiWare exclusive, the game will be hitting PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade for realsies in… okay, the the developer isn’t saying just yet. But High Voltage isn’t messing around anymore, and have shown the game toIGN, who said the developer “has enough going on here to make for a memorable experience....

Konami has announced that it’s bringingAssault Heroesto the PayStation Network in 2010. Yes, that’s right —Assault Heroes, an early Xbox LIVE Arcade game that was released in 2006. The game is so old, wereviewed its sequel last year. In its defense, Konami does mention that the game pushes “the boundaries of timeless 2D action.” I will say thatAssault Heroesis pretty damned good, with its cooperative shooting-crap-up gameplay. But this is three years later, and from what Konami is saying, it doesn’t look like it’ll be any different than the XBLA release....

Yesterday, Atari invited me out to their New York City offices to get some hands-on time with a number of games from their upcoming Fall 2008 slate of releases. Throughout the day, I’ll be bringing you coverage of said games; first on the docket is a DS “life simulation” title,What’s Cooking? Jamie Oliver. Over the first half of this fiscal year, Atlus drew in about 378 million yen – or $4.3 million dollars – in operating profit. That’s up a whopping236%from last year. Feral Interactive’s Macintosh port ofBlack & White 2is finally finished and will be debuting at MacWorld Expo this January 6. Those attending the San Francisco event will be able to party like its 2005 and get their hands on the title for the first time. Onlookers (or players) will also be able to buy the title at the event as well. Black & White 2is the follow-up to the pseudo-successful God game created by Lionhead Studios....

Mass Effect 3is a thing that is planned to happen. And it appears Bioware is excited to do it. At a recent press event,ME2project director Casey Hudson said as much, adding that the sequel-sequel should be a bit more fun. And why? BecauseME3is the end of the trilogy — Bioware won’t have to toss in hooks for player saves and address what players do in another game. Go figure. “Mass Effect 3will be easier because we don’t have to worry about the continuity into the next one,” Hudson toldShacknews....

In an investor conference over the weekend, it wasrevealedthatChampions Online, the upcoming superhero MMO, will no longer be published by Take-Two Interactive. The reason given was therecent acquisitionof developer Cryptic Studios by Atari. There’s no word yet from Atari on whether they will be publishing the title but it sounds as if we’ll be hearing something to that effect in the very near future. As a long-time fan of theChampionspen-and-paper RPG, I’m interested to see what the end result of this project winds up being....

I’m really looking forward to Namco Bandai’sGod Eater, not least of all because it’s calledGOD EATER! That name is brilliant, and I’ve therefore decided thegamewill be brilliant. It’s looking hopeful, being aMonster Hunterstyle PSP RPG with loads of weapons and cool stuff and massive cannons. The folks at1up.comare reporting thatChibi-Robo: Park Patrolwent on sale Tuesday, but Nintendo failed to let anybody actually know about it. Furthermore, those thatdidknow would still have had great difficulty tracking the DS title down because its exclusive to Wal-mart and this wasn’t properly revealed either. According to 1up: Clicking toNintendo’s websiteand entering theChibi-Robo: Park Patrol‘sproduct pagemakesabsolutely no mentionof the Wal-Mart deal. In fact, if you click on Nintendo’s own “where to buy” button — somewhat crucial for a game that’s only being sold at a single retailer — makes no mention of theChibi-Roboand Wal-Mart exclusivity deal....
