Xbox fanatics seem to be obsessed with the idea of a portable Xbox. The other portable game systems out there? Not good enough. Microsoft or bust, I guess they’re thinking. Perhaps this concept byCarl Archambeaultwould fit the bill for them. Carl calls this the Xbox 1080. It sports a pop-up LCD display that can be retracted into the system for maximum portability. On its face are all the buttons from the controller that you’ve come to know, plus a few extra for media control and menu functions....

Microsoft is extending the “1 vs. 100” beta by two weeks. According to official release this is due to the “overwhelming response” by Xbox LIVE Gold members. The season finale will now air on August 29th in North America and the UK and the 30th in other supported European territories. The prize-less “Extended Play” sessions will run until September 13th. In addition to announcing more opportunities to hear Chris Cashman stumble through a script about videogames, Microsoft released some (confusing) numbers....

Earlier today weposted up a videothat showed off some of the AI highlights within theCall of Duty 4engine in the latest Bond game,Quantum of Solace. According to a recentgamesindustry.bizreport, it appears as though Bond will be starring in a lot more games after Treyarch’s rendition. Cowen and Company analyst Dough Cruetz told the website “James Bondwill become an annual franchise.” Cruetz’s deduction was initially based on Activision’s holdings of theJames Bondlicense through 2014....

Smash Court Tennis 3is looking to undercut the competition with the newest game in the series. Unlike other tennis games,SCT 3is adding some role-playing elements to create a very deep customization system. Plus, it’s going to be about $20 cheaper than regular Xbox 360 games. The game will be very deep, butSmash Courtwill still be easy to pick up for players new to this sports genre. I’m all for small form factor PCs. They fit great in your entertainment center as a home theater PC or a not-emulation box. But cramming a PC into a Wii’s casing? Why would you want to do that? Good reason or not, it’s done. This computer contains a Celeron 1.3Ghz, 512mb RAM, and a 40GB hard drive. That’s power enough to got your Virtual Console releases for not-free. It seems we were overthinkingour conspiracy theorieswhen a faceless countdown showed up on a couple of official BioWare Web sites last week — no add-ons, no expansions, and certainly no talk of sequels. Instead, what emerged was this contest … thing calledthe BioWare Bazaar. It’s a week-long series of auctions for a ridiculous amount of goodies like games, gear, and apparel, most of which is branded with BioWare properties. Instead of using real money for the auctions, you’re supposed to earn tokens by taking part in various challenges....

Destructoid has an interview coming soon with Bizarre Creations, the studio responsible for the Activision-published racing gameBlur. We’ve been chatting aboutBlur‘s community features, and what it wants to do for the racing genre. I also couldn’t resist asking for some thoughts on the proliferation of motion control, with things like Project Natal and the Sony Wiimote following Nintendo’s lead in the hopes of capturing a new audience. “I think motion control is an interesting development, but fundamentally not suited to some styles of game,” explains Bizarre’s Ben Ward....
