Xbox ‘1080’ prototype looks portable, silly

Xbox fanatics seem to be obsessed with the idea of a portable Xbox. The other portable game systems out there? Not good enough. Microsoft or bust, I guess they’re thinking. Perhaps this concept byCarl Archambeaultwould fit the bill for them. Carl calls this the Xbox 1080. It sports a pop-up LCD display that can be retracted into the system for maximum portability. On its face are all the buttons from the controller that you’ve come to know, plus a few extra for media control and menu functions....

[Editor’s note: unangbangkay has a lot to say aboutPersona 3. — CTZ] Good fantasy stories can get you involved within their world. Great fantasy stories get you involved in your own.Persona 3does exactly that, and in a most novel way to boot*. If there’s anything positive about my being unable to playPersona 4just yet, it’s that it has gottenPersona 3on my mind. An Uncharted 2 Christmas: Double cash during this weekend

With gaming-related news really starting to wind down at this point, this is your opportunity to stop talking about games for a minute and start, well, actually playing them. This also happens to be one of the best times for marathon play sessions since there’s no bothersome work or school for most of us. For me personally, this means getting online and shooting some people in the face. What better way to spread the holiday cheer?...

And the Mirror’s Edge cosplay begins … starting with Italian models?

Mirror’s Edgecosplay was inevitable — it’s not too tough to replicate Faith’s outfit, and a black wig is all you need to make the transformation complete. However, the last thing in the world I can say I expected to see is Italian models dressing up as her, but that’s just what happened at a launch event for the game held in Milan, Italy last week. Head over toMTV Multiplayerto see more images of this model and a second one, both of who I think did a fine job considering neither of them are actually Eurasian....

I’m all for small form factor PCs. They fit great in your entertainment center as a home theater PC or a not-emulation box. But cramming a PC into a Wii’s casing? Why would you want to do that? Good reason or not, it’s done. This computer contains a Celeron 1.3Ghz, 512mb RAM, and a 40GB hard drive. That’s power enough to got your Virtual Console releases for not-free. The modder has also managed to add USB ports and a Wi-Fi antenna to the kit....

BioWare’s mystery countdown revealed: it’s a contest

It seems we were overthinkingour conspiracy theorieswhen a faceless countdown showed up on a couple of official BioWare Web sites last week — no add-ons, no expansions, and certainly no talk of sequels. Instead, what emerged was this contest … thing calledthe BioWare Bazaar. It’s a week-long series of auctions for a ridiculous amount of goodies like games, gear, and apparel, most of which is branded with BioWare properties. Instead of using real money for the auctions, you’re supposed to earn tokens by taking part in various challenges....

Bizarre: Motion control shouldn’t replace control pads

Destructoid has an interview coming soon with Bizarre Creations, the studio responsible for the Activision-published racing gameBlur. We’ve been chatting aboutBlur‘s community features, and what it wants to do for the racing genre. I also couldn’t resist asking for some thoughts on the proliferation of motion control, with things like Project Natal and the Sony Wiimote following Nintendo’s lead in the hopes of capturing a new audience. “I think motion control is an interesting development, but fundamentally not suited to some styles of game,” explains Bizarre’s Ben Ward....
