Black Ops tops the charts in Japan

You might have heard thatKinect isn’t selling that great in Japan. You might have chalked this up to Japan’s reputation for being “racist” against foreign products. Personally, I don’t buy it. Case in point,Call of Duty: Black Opsis selling just fine in Japan. Sure, the Japanese port of the game isn’t the record-setting phenomenon that it is here in the U.S. and in Europe, but it still managed to do over 160K in it’s first week, outselling its closets competition by over 100K....

Capcom lays out 2007 plans

On Thursday, Destructoid was on hand at a special Capcom gamer’s day in which the publisher not only gave us the chance to see and try out their most important titles of the year, but also hear from the company on just exactly what they wanted to do for the future — some good, but definitely a lot of bad. The big point Capcom really kept trying to drive home with us was the fact they are no longer an isolated Japan-focused company, that they are putting a lot of time and resources in making sure their games represent the West and a wide range of tastes and play styles....

Captain Obvious: Study of studies says video games don’t cause violence

Considering violent behavior has been around since the day we crawled out of the primordial goo, the notion that video games caused or led to an increase in violent behavior often made those of us with a drop of common sense roll our eyes at the silly thought. Meaning,Jackie Tis the attention whore we always thought he was … well, according to this one evil scientist at least....

Destructoid review: Audiball

Before I brewed my cup of coffee this morning, I listened to the sounds of my two cats playing with their toys, my girlfriend grumbling about having to go to work, and rain drops. My cats’ paws thumped on the floor sporadically; however, my woman’s grumbles and the rain’s wet pats had a certain rhythm. When the coffee maker started to make its cacophony, it ruined my moment of auditory enlightenment....
