Fanboy Friday: Num-nut Edition

Many of you have been playing theMAGbeta, and if the reactions from the IRC regulars are any indication, it’s been decent so far. Not everyone has been having a good time with it, though. If random strangers on the internet are correct, it’s laggy, it has PS1 graphics, it’s gay, and it’s for sure worse thanModern Warfare 2. Hit the jump! One of the big complaints people seem to have is with the graphics....

The newspapers love to run stories about someone who committed murder “because” they played too many videogames. You can’t win either way! 62-year-old Malcolm Palmer killed the mother of his three children after she became addicted toGrand Theft Auto. Carol Cannom, 46, apparently drove her partner mad by dragging a 37-inch plasma TV into the main bedroom and spending the entire night on her PS3....

For all those fans who have spent the last few years emo over having no more of the beloved space western to whet their appetites, it’ll be time to saddle up in front of your computers soon enough. Fishing rods can KILL: Two new characters announced for Warriors Orochi sequel

The boys over atKoei Warriorsannounced thatFamitsuwould be providing another announcement concerningWarriors Orochi: Rebirth of the Demon Lord, and it’s an utter doozy. Two brand new, never-before-seen characters are being introduced in the sequel, and they … have very interesting weapons, to say the least. First up is Taigong Wang, a quasi-mythical Chinese figure known for his unorthodox fishing skills. Quite fitting then, that he attacks with a fishing rod. Yes, you read that correctly — but then again, this is a game where people fight with feather fans, so I guess we can let it slide....

Free App of the Day: RobotNGun

You have to admire a name that says it all.RobotNGun(iOS) is about a robot and gun. How’s that for efficiency? RobotNGunis a fairly standard twin-stick shooter with a heavy focus on upgrades and unlockable weapons. It looks rather basic and the action isn’t anything you haven’t seen before, but it’s still pretty fun and the battle music is rather awesome in its retro cheesiness.

Game Debate to the Death! Crisis Core: FFVII VS Patapon

Last week’sdebateput two distinctly different games against one another, and I have to admit I’m surprised by the outcome. I knew it would be close, but I thought the cult classic PSP game was going to pull out a win. Here are the results: This week we enter the PSP odd game debate finals bracket. I’m happy to see two polar opposites duel it out in the end, but I’m a little disappointed in how few votes have been cast so far for the PSP brackets....

Game Debate to the Death! What debates do you want to see?

Last week I ended off the year byasking everyonewhat their favorite game EVAR! was. The results were as lengthy as they were awesome, and I have to say — I was impressed with how diverse the response was. Not only did I see some ancient game debate contenders resurface, but plenty of obscure and deserving forgotten games of the past were also mentioned. So what did people pick as their favorite the most?...

ArthurandLancelot together in a single videogame. It’s happening.Again. Think about it! Guitar playing isn’t a f*cking videogame, says Noel Gallagher

Oasis string plucker Noel Gallagher is at it again, sharing hisexpert opinionon videogames. A while back, he decided toblame knife crime on games, and now he’s summed upGuitar Heroin the only way he knows how — rudely. “It’s better than two goblins trying to f**k a donkey up the arse with a laser beam,”statedthe musician and former drug fiend, suggesting thatGuitar Herowas at least superior to traditionally violent titles.“When I meet kids I always say to them playing a guitar is not a f*cking videogame, there is no level to get to....
