The battle of the band games continues this holiday withRock Band 2andGuitar Hero World Tour, and some might say thatWorld Tourhas the leg up with a music creation mode. Maybe. It depends on how much of a music nerd you are. Have some pretty RPG eyecandy: Magna Carta 2 screens

I playedMagna Carta 2back atE3 time, and at the time it struck me as a solid entry in the RPG genre as long as you aren’t looking for anything groundbreaking in terms of story. One thing it definitely has down is good looks, and these new screens fromGamekyocertainly prove that. Despite its unique battle system, I’m thinking I am going to pass on this one once it comes out in the US this October, if only because eighty hours is a long time to spend playing some predictable....

So, watch this vid and see what it is. By the way, getZeldafor the Wii. It’s pretty much all around awesome....

Here’s the near-complete list of wrestlers for WWE 12

Following the somewhat recentannouncementof The Rock being a pre-order bonus, THQ has released a hefty list on theirsitethat almost details the complete roster of wrestlers. I haven’t played a wrestling game in years, but this reboot and a lot of people talking about wrestling lately has me wanting to get into these games again. As a result of me not following wrestling in years, the only person I immediately recognized and got excited to play as is The Undertaker, because I’m original like that....

Hi-Rez reveals more Tribes Ascend concept art

Hi-Rez studios showed off some concept art of the ‘first map’ ofTribes AscendonFacebookafter getting 4000 likes. They did the same withprevious concept art, so if you want more of this, I suppose you better start ‘liking.’ Apparently the map’s name is Drydock, and that’s about all the info there is. Whoever is targeting those orbital strikes sure as hell can’t aim though, so the guy who is taking cover on the bottom-right might as well be holding a picnic!...

Highlights this week include The GHost making more amazing Destructoid Cards, several recaps of the Baltimore NARP, Tamz’s art, Genki-JAM’sPokémoncomics, and free touch’s Destructoid figures....

How is the BP oil leak affecting the Mushroom Kingdom?

I don’t watch the televised news, as a rule. It’s never been a part of my life. So, as a result, I wind up becoming aware of news only after it has been run through the cultural filter related to my hobby of choice. Take this piece of art by zero-lives, as an example. Did you guys know that there’s some oil leaking out of a well into the Gulf of Mexico?...

Jack Thompson to subpoena … the president!?

The craziest man to ever be declared sane, Jack Thompson, has pulled one of his wackiest moves yet as he has filed to subpoena George W. Bush for a deposition in his bid to keep his law license. Thompson of course is facing the loss of his right to practice law, thanks to him being something of a complete pudstick and facing two ethics complaints from the Florida Bar. The trial begins on November 26th and surely will provide hilarity, especially if Jacky Boy’s attempts to call Bush to the stand is any indication of what we’re going to see....

Jason Rohrer’s Sleep is Death now available for preorder

Sleep is Deathis either going to be one of the coolest things I’ve ever played, or it’s going to reflect my own boringness in such a way that I’ll never be able to do anything remotely interesting with it. Described as “a storytelling game for two players,” Jason Rohrer’sSleep is Deathwill likely adhere to hisNew Gamist Manifesto— which, if you’re too lazy to click the link, means it’ll have less to do with scripted narrative, AI-driven characters and a definite endpoint and more to do with endless discovery and player-on-player interaction....

Jessica Biel as Chun-Li? Ben Kingsley as Dhalsim? Robin Williams as Zangief?

One part of that title is true, and no, sadly, it isn’t the two awesome choices, it’s the confusingly bizarre one. Latino Review, viaKotaku(via my laptop, via coal-burning power plants) has a bit of casting news from the upcomingStreet Fightermovie that is simply mind-boggling. The rumor claims that Jessica “Severely Not Chinese” Biel is at the top of the casting pile for the role of Chun-Li, a character defined as much by her many appearances in theStreet Fighterseries as she is by the fact that she’snot from Minnesota....
