Kaz Hirai confirms movie download service coming to PSN this summer

I’ve always wondered why Sony — with its massive media holdings in the film and music industries (i.e.,Sony Pictures EntertainmentandSony BMG) — hasn’t yet brought that content to the PlayStation Network. After all, Microsoft has a wide variety of downloadable media available on Xbox Live Marketplace, and such a service on the PSN would almost certainly be a cash cow for Sony. Well, I will have to wonder no longer — at least on the movie side....

Kojima: Someone else make MGS5 … please

Every single entry in theMetal Gear Solidseries (barring the first) has been Hideo Kojima’s “last”MGS. He claims he’ll step away from the series every time but it seems like a compulsion for him — like kleptomania, only with longer cutscenes. It really gives the impression that he can’t help himself, especially since he’s already dreamed up three concepts forMetal Gear Solid 5butneeds his teamto help him not make them. He’s hoping that someone in Kojima Productions will have a better idea than him so he doesn’t have to work onMGS5....

Kojima’s being vague again, mentions ‘Devil Project’

Hideo Kojima is not a man known for his ability to get to the point. That he is beinginscrutable on Twitteris not really a big deal, but what is thisDevil Projecthe has alluded to? That man is an endless waterfall of mystery! “Have to give priority to another line’s scenario etc., so now I cannot work on ‘the devil project’ and ‘writing’,” says the mad professor of videogames. “… Worked on my ‘devil project’ a bit after lunch....

LA Noire ‘The Naked City’ DLC trailer

As is custom these days, Rockstar’sLA Noirewill be offering avariety of pre-order incentivesat different retailers. It seems that GameStop is the only place worth buying from, however, since it comes with a full downloadable story —The Naked City. Rockstar has released a trailer for this unique mission, in which players must investigate the alleged suicide of a fashion model. Looks pretty groovy, and slightly more interesting than the downloadable costumes being offered elsewhere....

Level5 Japan: Amazing offices are amazing

It’s not clear if Level5 (Dark Cloudseries,Rogue Galaxy, Dragon Quest remakes,White Knight Story,Jeanne d’Arc)will becomethe next Square Enixyet, but one thing’s for sure: they’re working in high style. The Japanese Level5 Web page features a “Company Navigator,” which is basically a slideshow of the Level5 offices. I’ve seen some pretty amazing offices in my day, but Level5’s choice of high style decor with otaku-ish accents really hits home. I know that the forthcoming Destructoid Tower and Housing Complex will eventually make all other offices pale in comparison, but we have a bit of a wait for that....

Metacritic to tighten up user reviews following fanboy score wars

The other dayI ranted quite sternlyabout how console fanboys were using Metacritic as their stupidest battleground yet, deliberately giving platform exclusives low scores before they’d even launched. It seems that Metacritic has finally gotten fed up, and will now betightening the system, making it a bit harder for these morons to screw around. People abuse the freedom they’re given, that’s nothing new. So how will Metacritic be fixing this? Firstly, new users will need more than just an email to get a Metacritic account and start voting....

I’m going to level with you — I have no idea what the hell is going on inMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: Tactical Espionage Action(its full, official title). Having not delved too deeply into most of the games in the series, I’m quickly discovering that there’s far more plot there than I can fit in my tiny human brain.
