Just because no one is really talking about Square Enix’sMINDJACK, that’s not stopping the publisher from offering up special pre-order incentives, now is it? Today, the pre-order “Ability Pack” was announced, which gets folks who pre-purchase the game the following in-game enhancements: The content comes with pre-orders from Amazon.com, Best Buy, and GameStop. Anyone who’s played aMonster Huntergame for a while would know that one of the series’ great joys is to go on cooperative hunts with other players. There’s an awkward charm to seeing yourself and several other strangers tumble and dive around the legs of a gigantic monster, gesticulating wildly and trying to time all those over-the-top weapon animationsjust rightto inflict the most damage to whichever bits of monster you want to injure hardest....

As great as all those games are, I’m not sure that any of them are equal toSmash Bros. Brawl, one of my favorite games ever. That’s why I’m freaking out so hard over this hack. Sony’s PlayStation Portable successor, the NGP, is already looking to be supported by a slew of popular franchises. Among them are Insomniac’s Resistance and Naughty Dog’sUncharted; the impressive portable versions of both games were demonstrated at Sony’s Tokyo NGP event this week. But neither studio will be working directly on the titles, its been confirmed. Insomniac has revealed via its Twitter account that Nihilistic Software, the folks behind the upcomingPlayStation Move Heroestitle for PlayStation 3 will be working on the all new portableResistancetitle....
While I’m not keen on everything Microsoft is doing with the New Xbox Experience (NXE), I am really looking forward to the Netflix streaming video. Sadly, it’s just become a little bit less awesome now thatShacknewsis reporting that a planned movie sharing feature will not be implemented in the update which hits consoles on November 19th. One of the main features Microsoft has been touting is a more community-based atmosphere, where players can meet up with each other in a virtual room and interact together in various ways....

But perhaps proving that they’re not the “big bad,” EA are have announced a new, free mode forBattlefield: Bad Companyon the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, “Conquest.” From EA: Made famous byBattlefield 1942™,Conquest mode pits players against each other in a fast paced battle to eliminate the opposing team’s tickets. Players deplete their opponent’s tickets by one point per kill and can cause theiropponent’s ticketsto spiral downwards by capturing control points....
It’s Friday, and apparently that means we have anotherPrototypevideo to enjoy. This time around, we get to see a little more of the story behind the game, as Alex Mercer embarks on a revenge quest and uses the pretentiously named “Web of Intrigue” system to piece together a conspiracy. The game is relying on that oft-abused “amnesia” plot device, but I’ll try not to hold that against it. Prototypehas very quickly become one of my most anticipated on 2009, and I simply can’t wait to play it, even if the story sounds disappointingly cookie-cutter....
We’re all very excited forTales of Monkey Island, the episodic return of one of LucasArts’ most cherished and venerable point-and-click adventure games. Here’s a brand new trailer, unleashed upon Youtube by TellTale Games, where the mighty pirate Guybrush Threepwood rescures Elaine from the evil pirate LeChuck. Or at least tries to. It’s looking really good so far, and should be an awesome followup to the series that many thought they’d never see again....
The new look for Lara Croft is certainly more rough-and-tumble than we’ve seen her be in the past. A new batch of screenshots released today features the dirty heroine in a number of painful (or, in one case, compromising) positions. This is the point in the conversation where I would normally comment with some depth about howTomb Raideris a series drastically in need of a reboot (it is) but I can’t muster the enthusiasm....
