First trailer for strange Wii game Opoona looks, well, strange

Not that there is anything wrong withstrange.Although the graphics are very “last gen” (even when compared to other games on the Wii) something about Opoona intrigues me. Could it be the fact that Final Fantasy XII composerHitoshi Sakimotois doing the soundtrack? Or maybe it is the fact that you play the entire game with just the Wii nunchuk attachment? That’s right — all actions are performed without ever even touching the Wiimote....

Folklore gameplay footage makes me wish I had been at E3 even more now

Ah,Folklore. You’veteased meoh so badly at E3, and now I finally get to see some gameplay footage of you. Well, now I finally get to see what Colette was talking about. This here is a collection of what was on the E3 show floor, and it’s nice to finally be able to see what the little lady was talking about. The ability to draw souls is nice, but I think that the repeated appearance of the PS3 controller would start to get annoying after a while....

Friday Night Fights: Return to Paradise City edition

Funny how something as simple as adding a restart button to a game likeBurnout Paradisecan make all the difference in the world, at least to an incredibly angry gamer such as myself. I’m going to attempt to knock out a large amount of Freeburn challenges tonight, and I’d love it if the Destructoid community would join me. Whether or not you can do a barrel roll through that one goddamn hoop in the Airfield or not, I don’t care — the main objective here is to have fun, and lots of it....

FUEL has a ridiculous GPS, this video proves it

As you may or may not know,FUEL, Codemasters’ latest racer, contains a 5,000 square mile world for you to more or less do what you want in. One concern for such a massive, open landscape is that of navigation, but the latest trailer for the game is all about showing Codies’ solution. FUEL‘s GPS, which is shown both above and in a video after the jump, is pretty crazy. See those big, borderline intrusive arrows?...

Game Debate to the Death!Chun-Li VS Sheeva

Last weekI asked everyone to decide between three of the most famous assassins of all time. Counting up the votes this week was one of the most nerve-racking back and forth scores I’ve ever seen, with the winner way in the lead at first, then falling far behind, and finally managing to boom its voice back into the lead: One vote!! I cast my vote for Scorpion without a second thought, although I expected Sub-Zero to pull out a win due to his branching games from the series....

GameStop listings leak new Dragon Quest Monsters titles?

A couple of GameStop PowerUp Rewards listings show a couple of Dragon Quest Monsters games that have not been announced. Could it be that Square Enix has been busy hacking away at a couple of DQM games to surprise us with? If so, GameStop ruined the surprise. There’s DS gameDragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2and Wii gameDragon Quest Monsters: Battle Road Victoryamong the listings. Each sound like perfect candidates for release. There’s plenty of fans here that would love to get their paws on either....

I’m sure you’ve heard of the creepy-yet-adorable little bugger before, and now we have a bucketload of assets for you. Check out the gallery and watch the video after the jump....

GC 09: Rabbids are sick little masochists

I played a bunch of the Wii version ofRabbids Go Home!and had a blast with it. It’s mindless fun and the Rabbids just make it even better. What I haven’t realized until today was that there was also a DS version ofRabbids Go Home!in the works. We have some new screens for both versions and a couple of videos for the DS version (after the break) showing off the interesting gameplay mechanic....

Gears of War 2 launch trailer brings testosterone and stereotypes. Awesome!

Feast your eyes on the above trailer forGears of War 2, preparing us for the return of gaming’s favorite steroid junkie and his racially diverse chums. Yes, Epic’s wildly popular shooter is almost here, and I can’t wait. I am a big fan of the firstGears of War, so I’m more than ready to receive a second dose. Strangely, I’m one of the …onepeople who liked the original game’s single player mode better than its multiplayer, so I’m glad that Epic is committed to making it as robust and interesting as they can....

Get your ghostly groove on this May with Gabrielle

It probably won’t win game of the year awards, but maybe it’ll get a “Title of the Year” nod:Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove: Monster Mix. Announced by Natsume today, it’s a WiiWare “dance adventure” that has cutesy little Gabrielle saving her monster pals in Monster Town. With dance, of course. The trailer shows off Gabrielle dancing with Dracula, a mummy bear, and some other adorable little monsters. It looks like its geared towards a younger female crowd, but I’ve got a soft spot for dancing with monsters....

Go behind the scenes on Monkey Island 2: Special Edition

Of all the games in theMonkey Islandseries, there is none that I enjoy more thanMonkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. Great puzzles, inventive story and wit sharper than any stick you could shake at it — not that you would — make it a landmark LucasArts game. I’m really looking forward to playing it again, particularly with the developer commentary by Ron Gilbert, Dave Grossman and Tim Schafer. If you want a taste of what that’s going to be like, along with a whole host of information on what goes into makingMonkey Islandmore special than it already was, watch the above video....
