Over the years we’ve learned so much by looking at job ads for the games industry. The latest of Microsoft’s wanted ads may hint at a new console. It could be us daydreaming about a system that doesn’t sound like a truck starting up when you turn it on, but the descriptions from these three new listings sounds like they’re working on something new. They want a hardware architect, a hardware verification engineer, and a performance engineer for the Xbox Console Architecture Group, according toG4....

Chief financial officer for Microsoft’s entertainment division, Mindy Mount,recently statedthat Microsoft wants the support for the Xbox 360 to last longer than five years: It’s quite interesting to see Microsoft looking to the PS2 as an example of what they want to strive for. Granted, there are a lot of similarities between the Xbox 360 and the PS2 if you really think about it. They both launched earlier then their competitors, a greater amount of games to choose from than their competitors, a bigger install base and both have horrible internal designs (Disc Read Error and Red Ring of Death)....

It’s been a long while since we’ve had a legitimately good Batman videogame. The most recent one I could think of wasThe Adventures of Batman & Robinback on the Genesis and SNES, and that game came out fifteen years ago. As forThe Dark Knight, atie-in videogamewasunofficially (and apparently, inadvertently) revealedby Gary Oldman (aka Commissioner Gordon) in an interview with G4 last July, shortly after the film’s release. EAlater confirmedthat Pandemic Studios had indeed been working on such a game, but it looks like that was shelved — perhaps because the awfulBatman Beginsgame only sold 587,000 copies....

The fastest selling Capcom game is nowMonster Hunter Freedom 3, orMonster Hunter Portable 3rdfor you Westerners. The PSP title flew off shelves in Japan, selling 3 million copies in 17 days, breaking records for Capcom and the entire industry in Japan. That takes the series total up to about 16 million. It makes sense that PSP system sales are also up.Eurogamersays that the PSP sales numbers shot up from 75,000 to 325,000 on MHF3’s launch week....

With less than a week left untilWarioWare D.I.Y.hits retail, my curiosity for the game has grown tremendously each passing day. More than the main game itself, I’m curious to see if I have what it takes to make a halfway decent microgame. Probably not. These tutorial videos from Nintendo are certainly helping, though. Last week,things started offrelatively easy. This week, however, Nintendo has delved into what they call intermediate territory — this is where my mind starts turning into purple slush....

TheMX vs. ATV Reflexdemo is now available for all on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. The demo has one outdoor event, one freestyle event and six tutorial lessons. The demo will give you a taste of the new Rider Reflex feature which I think will be the big selling point forReflex. Get more details about the feature from Samit’spreview on here. It seems that A2M is really pushing out the marketing boat this week. A debut trailer, some new screenshots, and now a second teaser to get us pumped for what promises to the most brutal bear-on-bear violence in videogame history,Naughty Bear. The latest video is short, but pretty much tells you everything you need to know. I love how there is absolutelynothingtongue-in-cheek about it, aside from the fact that they’re bears....

I’m big enough of a nerd to feel comfortable telling you that Koei’s older historical simulation/strategy games are some of my favorite games ever. Two that will always sit high on my list of beloved games areGenghis KhanandRomance of the Three Kingdoms. It’s been forever since I’ve even thought about these games, though. But now I’m ready to jump back into ancient China…on my iPad. Romance of the Three Kingdomsis coming to the iPad with new graphics and a totally new touch interface....

Note the asterisks are in an icky place where you learn about the cost of Netflix, not where it asks “exclusive partnership” or “only game console.” Look at it this way, PS3 and Wii owners: the coolest thing on Netflix Watch Instantly isLost, and while that sounds totally rad, it isn’t. Netflix quits offering full seasons after the first. Kind of makes the service pointless when you have to rent discs to supplement what is supposedly offered....
