Gone are the days where Nintendo would launch with just a handful of first-party titles. Next month at Tokyo’s Nintendo World 2011, 32 titles will be shown off to the public, with about half of the offerings being playable. The Nintendo World 2011 website has been updated with a list of games to be shown at the Jan 8-10 event, which is set to go down in the Makuhari Messe convention center just outside of Tokyo, Japan....

Brawl in the Familyis a very simple Web comic. A majority of the art is comprised of simple sketches, but don’t let that stop you from reading the series. Comics are about the punch line and there are some really funny strips here. That’s not to say that Matthew Taranto, artist and writer of Brawl in the Family, can’t draw. There are a few pieces in the series thatare really well done....
LEGO artist “Dunechaser” has recreated the classes of Blizzard’s click-happy RPG with LEGO people, right down to the weapons. Ubisoft Montreal seem awful confident in their upcoming titleAssassin’s Creed. The game won’t hit the street until August and there’s already talk of amovie, for crying out loud. So now that they’ve got the whole gaming world slobbering on itself in anticipation, what do they go and announce next? Books. Yes, books. Don’t look at me like that.Pocket Bookswill be releasing three novels to serve as a prequel to the game and an expansion of main character Altair’s story, with the first installment slated for release this October....
IGNhas a review up(warning: possible spoilers) of the highly anticipatedAssassin’s Creedwhich is interesting for two things — its less-than praiseworthy summary (complete with good-yet-humble 7.5 review score) and the fact that it claims the PS3 version is severely nerfed when compared to the Xbox 360 version. BioWare is creating a new Montreal “group” forMass Effect 2. The plan is to take a few staff members from the existing BioWare Edmonton studio and put them in Electronic Arts’s Montreal studio. Then, BioWare will hire some new guys from the available Montreal development pool to bolster the mini-staff. According to BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka, the idea is to get roughly 30 people in the new studio. GameDailyconfirmed the move today with EA vice president of communications, Jeff Brown, and BioWare big man, Muzyka....
If you were anticipating a new reveal from Bungie at this year’s Electronics Entertainment Expo, brace for disappointment. As I briefly mentioned earlier,Street Fighter IVproducer Yoshinori Ono confirmed that the console versions of the title would contain additional content. Among the extras included would be more detailed story information, delivered in the form of in-game engine cut-scenes and fully produced animated prologues and endings for each character. Capcom were nice enough to show us Ryu’s intro at CAPTIVATE last week, and if all of the intros and endings are this well produced, then we definitely have a reason to finish the game with all of the game’s characters....
The New York Times is suggesting that Microsoft will reveal a range of products set to compete with the iPad at next month’s CES. According to the report, monstrous bossman Steve Ballmer will have a selection of products from Dell and Samsung to give Apple a run for its money in the tablet market. The devices will, of course, run Windows 7, although they will switch to a layered interface when held in portrait mode....
Square Enix has proudly announced that its iPhone RPGChaos Ringsis a worldwide bestseller, allegedly reaching the number one RPG slot in fourteen countries. The game, which costs $12.99 in the US, has been a massive success. The success is well deserved, too.Chaos Ringsis a superb title that has quickly become one of my favorite JRPGs in years, and that includes console games as well. It’s got some solid characters, a unique premise, a tight battle system and surprisingly stellar music....
